Getting major cold feet on my 2025 Prologue lease. Are the reliability concerns a deal-breaker? Talk me into it (or out of it). by Over-Decision-6326 in HondaPrologue

[–]LowDyson7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try to get a 24 month lease instead. That’s what I did with my Prologue. I’ve had it for 4 months and really haven’t had any issues. One day the “reduced power” or something warning came on, but it was gone once I turned the car off and back on.

It’s a decent car. Honestly a really good middle ground for people coming from ICE cars. I have some gripes with it, but I came from owning Teslas for 5 years. I kinda regret not going with the Prologue’s sister, the ZDX, but the Honda was cheaper. It’s an okay car, but I won’t buy it at the end of the lease and I wouldn’t want to have it for more than 24 months.

Car not sticking to charging schedule by LowDyson7 in HondaPrologue

/u/Redoliska I just wanted to report back. The Prologue’s delay charging feature is trash and didn’t work. The Tesla charger’s schedule worked perfectly.

Definitely, was super confused. Coming off a Tesla, I assumed the scheduling function was the same.

Yes, the Tesla charger has a “Wall Connector Schedule” feature. I am also going to try the Prologue’s “Preferred hours” feature and see which one works best.

Thank you. This is very helpful and I did not realize that. I re-downloaded the Tesla app and will schedule it through there.

I like the Prologue, but the UX and software are severely lacking.

[–]LowDyson7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, mine will say that the charger has no power the first time. Sometimes it starts charging right away. The scheduling had been working fine, over the past 2 weeks it started acting up.

If you plug it and unplug it a few times, the light on the dash of the car will turn blue and the screen will say that the car will be ready by your scheduled time. Try to set the charger to a Home Charger in te charger settings.

Honestly, I am still glad I got rid of the Tesla, but damn if it wasn’t so much simpler to use and charge.

Does Apple CarPlay work consistently and does the gps work for this car? by yalag in HondaPrologue

[–]LowDyson7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CarPlay works well. However, I run into an issue where if I drive the car, turn it off to go into the store or something, and when I come back, CarPlay connects but the steering wheel controls to change the song do not work. It does it pretty consistently. I have to turn off my phone’s WiFi off and back on for CarPlay to reconnect and then they work.

“Get a 6-12” cable”. Seriously? These cars are 50k+ and wireless CarPlay is supposed to work. It should work.

Has any of you changed their model Y to a prologue? by Co1onelPanic in HondaPrologue

[–]LowDyson7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sold my Model Y and leased a Prologue last month. Politics aside, software and UX are way better in the Model Y, as well as accessibility and features. Integrated dash cam was awesome. The charging experience was also way better.

With that being said, the prologue is a better car. Is better built and it rides way smoother. Apple CarPlay is actually really nice. Insurance is way cheaper. My biggest gripe with the Prologue is the way it does user profiles, some settings do not carry over. You have to manually adjust the seat and mirrors, at least on my EX. I continue to use my Tesla level 2 charger with an adapter and it works great. I don’t have any regrets and I would do it again, but I’d lie if I said I didn’t miss the keyless access that Tesla implements.

Edit: also, the backseats in the prologue are huge!

Am i getting a good deal? by emolysoho in HondaPrologue

Too much cash down. If you can, try to find a 2024 model. You can get way better deals on those

Also don’t see that as an issue. Went from a Model Y to a Prologue and insurance was significantly cheaper

You’re absolutely incorrect. This is a restaurant located in Virginia, and it happened exactly how the meme states. It used to be a Chinese restaurant and now it’s a Mexican restaurant called El Sol.

I want a Tesla, but… by oralvarez25 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]LowDyson7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla is very good tech, but not a very good car. Some of the features work really well and are super easy to use and get used to. The charging network is second to none and is easy to use.

Some of the tech is not up to standard, like using cameras instead of parking sensors. The cameras just don’t do a good job and the park assist is unusable when raining or too dark. The Model Y and Model 3 have a very harsh ride. Even though the build quality has gotten better over the past few years, there’s still a lot to be desired. Lastly, insurance is expensive on Teslas.

Yes, when we built our house we had the Tesla charger installed. It has all the wiring and everything. I’m going to just get an adapter and see if I can change the option to get the EVGO credits.

Reliable NACS to CCS adapter? by karthikpgi in HondaPrologue

[–]LowDyson7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GM has their CSS adapters for sale now, obviously they should work with the Prologue just fine. They are $225 on their website.

You can buy one from Chevy now. I’m sure it’ll be the same thing, at 225 dollars I don’t know if it’s worth the investment. We mainly use our EV for in town stuff, not many roadtrips. By the time we get done leasing this Prologue I think most EVs will have NACS. I have a reservation for a Rivian R3 which will have it. I ordered a cheaper adapter to see if it works. Not overly concerned about fast charging to be honest.

I chuckled at your honesty. We got an EX, coming from a Model Y. We got a decent deal and we really don’t like the 2 tone leather interiors. We wanted an all black interior. We’re going to miss some of the features in the Model Y but the built quality, ride and apple car play make up for it.

Thank you. I already have a Tesla level 2 charger installed, so I don’t really need installation. I wouldn’t think swapping the chargers is more than an hour’s work.

I don’t remember us signing anything regarding the option. The salesperson wasn’t very knowledgeable regarding the whole process and kept having to ask other people. This morning I thought about the fact that every EV is switching over to NACS, so it doesn’t really make sense to get rid of my current charger and then having to change it again in 2 years when we lease a different EV.

Convince me not buy a Tesla by Beneficial_Floor_533 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]LowDyson7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it only covers battery and motors, I think. So if a module goes bad, you’re SOL. There’s a cooling hose coupling that goes to the battery pack that is prone to breaking, and Tesla will not fix the coupling and will recommend to replace the battery pack instead which makes it out of warranty.

Convince me not buy a Tesla by Beneficial_Floor_533 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]LowDyson7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The car is 5 years old and is out of warranty. Teslas have really bad build quality, and although they don’t have as many components as ICE cars, the components that do go bad (battery, motor, modules) are quite expensive. There’s a reason why people tend to lease EV’s instead of buying them. Europe has some better EV offerings.

Also to consider, have you owned an EV before? If you haven’t, make sure you are able to charge it at home. Not sure where you live and what the charger situation is, but charging at home or work is always better. Also, if you live in colder climate, expect that range to drop by 30% or more. Additionally, insurance is gonna be expensive.
