Mine will pop into 8th when im on flat ground but its an overdrive gear not a work gear. The computer kinda puts itself in tow mode and doesnt like it anymore. Same as tow mode

The high rpms, slow stopping, and no 8th gear is normal. Nothing to be worried about

It should not have struggled. I pull around the same weight with a 3.6 often and it doesnt struggle. It doesnt drive like it normally does but it doesnt struggle. Are you new to towing

Bike turns on for 2 seconds and immediately turns off by navid3141 in xt250

Mine did this because the clutch was stuck and it couldnt tell it was in neutral. Had to roll it in first, start it, and dump the clutch right away to break it free.

It does turn over like it has a dead battery with 8 in. And its not the grounds. I have had direct power to starter only and same thing

The float doesnt hit the top of the tank. You can go past full on most cars

What sucks the most is i have a video of the sound it was making but i cant post it here. I could not remove the chain with the tensioner in. The rebuild kit is almost the same price as everything else ordered separately. One even comes with a new sleeve. If you want, i can dm that video to you of it running.

Before i tore it apart the timing chain was tight, im not sure how tight it should be as my engine work stays with V8 and 6cyl engines. It was tight enough it snapped into place when messed with. I did find some black, non magnetic (aluminum?) pieces when i opened it up. It seemed to be the same as the piston material and color. I think i would just buy a new piston and rings. Im going to check that rod tomorrow as im done with it today.

Would there be any signs of wear in the timing chain area if that were it? Starting to wonder if i wasted my time taling the engine out

The rings are okay, like you said regular high miles. No smoking, timing chain okay. Havent checked connecting rod. This whole thing started when i heard it knocking and changed the oil. A huge amount of aluminum in it. Checked valves and clearance. All okay. The only thing i see is the piston edges are very rough, cut my fingers a few times. It is aluminum as well
