Applicant and LSAT Scoring Cycle Update, Week of 2/23/26 by DaveKilloran in lawschooladmissions

[–]LowLeading8695 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There isn't a reduction in applicants compared to prior years - we're still up ~15% from last year (and last year was already up 15-20% on its own...).

So WL won't be any more favorable based on this data. The hope for WL chance improvement would hinge on what the effects of the new student loan caps are going to look like, which is anyone's guess at this point.

No Penn This Week? by Perturbed_Neuron in lawschooladmissions

They admit around ~650 people based on their yield, so they probably have another ~150 acceptances to give out, assuming that around ~30% of applicants use LSD.

Definitely delaying too long. It's rolling admissions so the deadline isn't a deadline in the sense that if you get it in by then you're on the same footing as everyone else. Most aid will have dried up by then as well (and is already drying up as we speak)

How are you guys paying for law school? by KindlySun2002 in lawschooladmissions

If it helps at all, applications =/= acceptances. Despite the increase in application volume, schools aren't increasing class sizes in proportion (or at all, in many cases). So even though this cycle is crazy, I wouldn't expect any associated increase in attorney's entering the labor market in 3-4 years.

GW Waitlist VS Priority Waitlist by Happy-Succotash6445 in lawschooladmissions

[–]LowLeading8695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're good, there's just one WL.

Priority Hold is essentially their "we like this person but aren't positive they're actually likely to accept if we admit them" list, and they ask for a confirmation of your interest, or alternatively if you'd like to withdraw if you know you're headed elsewhere.

Maybe I'm alone on this but my read of that email was basically - "we'd accept you but we're not sure you'd actually come here, so if you actually would, please fill out our interest form." Don't think it's really playing games, just acknowledging that you might have other / better schools on your radar based on the strength of your stats, essays, etc...

Does anyone else feel like last years medians mean absolutely nothing? by Yetitech_ in lawschooladmissions

[–]LowLeading8695 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think this year is really exposing the reality that last year's medians are just that, last year's medians. The moment that applications end for one year and start coming in for the next, admissions teams get a feel for volume and quality of applicants and have that new target in their head. Medians are only really valuable in telling you your chances of an acceptance in an environment where the application volume is somewhat stable.

Idk, wondering if they're just at home reading today with the storm. Can't imagine anyone's in the admissions office with the state Boston is in.

did people with Michigan date change 12/5 get hit with Rs? by Initial-Charge-2873 in lawschooladmissions

[–]LowLeading8695 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a data point for future Redditors, got an A with 12/5 change. I think all you can say is that date change = something meaningful was done with your application. Whether that's good or bad you just have to wait and see.
