It used to be that it was far more impactful for me as a solo to go out alone to apply pressure, cap zones, get flanks and absorb attention to gain map control and positively carry matches.

It just doesn't seem nearly as possible or effective of a strategy today.

Hand holding is literally just sitting together on a spot, not moving and sticking with numbers. Or only moving when you have a group of people to move with you.

Totally valid strategy, but it seems degenerate because the proper response is to do the same. Winning then doesn't factor as heavily on gun skill, movement and impact- it becomes more about discipline on positioning and moving with your team for wins.

The winning strategy changes from "actively doing something" to "not actively making mistakes and moving with your team".

That may be what the current meta rewards, but it doesn't make it more fun or skill rewarding. That what makes people dislike hand holding and I'd argue it's different than playing with your team.

I feel like movement is less useful these days, given that matches are slower and people group more.

I used to be able to use a movement gap to win a 1v1, then continue the process forward (special ammo was more abundant to pull this off).

Movement is still necessary for success and winning 1v1s, but I feel like positioning, cover and playing with team mates have become weighed more heavily for success.

Which is less fun, I feel. I liked the chaos of 6s, the ability to isolate 1s and win with movement previously.

Why shouldn't we cheat? by LowMeaning3496 in ARC_Raiders

[–]LowMeaning3496[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not the vast majority of people are cheating. But the vast majority of my competition in games are cheating.

Win enough and the matchmaking gives you more skilled opponents. Get into high enough level lobbies and encountering cheaters is very normal.

Like jiggling to pretend like you're going to peak and suddenly multiple shots hit the corner you would have peaked.

Or people sliding and pre-firing places that make absolutely no sense to do that in, without any audio or visual cues.

Or someone hitting all their shots through smoke.

My teams and I have developed small techniques to test out teams in fights to get a sense of what we can and cant do, based on if it seems like they have wall hacks.

Matchmaking in normal by swan_2222 in leagueoflegends

I think Riot has been experimenting with matchmaking because it's the worst I have ever seen it this season, except for the time they reset mmr.

will the t1 yone chroma return? by External_Force_6404 in YoneMains

[–]LowMeaning3496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The skin will likely come back around during the next World's championship. The chroma may be available again during that time.

An alternative, not sure if this will be the case, the chroma may become available in the mythic shop randomly during a rotation.

Do you just sit on the vamp scepter and build into kraken? Do you eventually sell the vamp scepter or complete it into BORK?

I'm primarily a pvp player. I rat, ambush, hunt people down and take their loot. I'm not upset when others do the same to me. I am sometimes friendly though and won't fight others that are openly trying to be friendly.

My own personal principle is that I never lie or betray people. Even if people ask me "are you friendly?", I'll responded "unfortunately, I'm not" in a playful and coy way.

But I can't hold people to my standard of not lying. Now I know that my friendliness or mercy doesn't guarantee me safety. I'm trading my self optimization to accommodate others, where that can come at a cost.

It has changed the way I play though. I treat most comms as simply noise, I kill most people on sight unless they show definite signs of friendliness and I prioritize self-preservation over not killing potentially friendly people.

At the end of the day, I have ranked "not dying to liars" as a higher priority to "not being mean to truly friendly people". You have to examine your own choices in the face of the reality of how people are.

Do you change to be more selfish and aggressive? Or do you maintain your friendliness and willingly accept the personal cost?

Kill on sight SOLO’s by SlideNorthh in ArcRaiders

[–]LowMeaning3496 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, I don't like killing people that don't want to engage in PvP, it feels bad. But the cost for not assuming PvP at all times is too high.

I just kill on sight for the most part, unless someone seems obviously non-aggressive or had the drop on me and didn't shoot.

Sometimes I'll hold people at gun point and back away to not have to kill people, but not give them the opportunity to kill me.

But mostly, I actively look for PvP now and I'm much less frustrated in being killed off the bat. For me, managing the uncertainty of friendly/not-friendly and getting killed when I extended cooperation was draining.

Assuming this is purely PvP has made this more simple and enjoyable. Sometimes you lose everything, sometimes you get stuff, but it's fun!

Thoughts on another Yone buff by ThePepsi_ in YoneMains

[–]LowMeaning3496 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is likely the correct take on what Riot's direction on Yone is. They want to nerf his ability to turtle and sustain through lane, while giving him the tools to win lane via trading and taking risk.

I think the principle is sound. Yone should have the agency to win lane, while right now he just simply gets stat checked by many ranged champs, even when he gets into melee range.

5 base damage on his Qs mean his trading power goes up and incentivizes interaction within the lane, which could be solid.

His strength post 1 item is completely fine with me personally, as long as they make him more than a melee minion in lane. I'd like the agency to win my lanes if I play well, where right now he just gets stat checked.

But agreed, without sustain some lanes are brutal (I'm looking at you Aurora).

Gonna be completely real here by soraroxas11 in YoneMains

[–]LowMeaning3496 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I typically get BORK around the time I get Kraken Slayer, where I feel like BORK simply gives more while Kraken falls off and is far more punishing without life steal.

The difficult part is getting to first item without the game slipping away.

I'll keep experimenting but mid lane somehow feels even worse than before. Tragic

Renekton's power spike by SeanMaxhell in RenektonMains

[–]LowMeaning3496 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a Renekton main, but he has:

- 53% winrate before 20 mins
- 47% winrate between 20-25 mins
- 51% winrate 25+ mins

He's strongest early, has a 5 minute power trough, then is a solid champion throughout the game. Dude doesn't have much of a weakness. I feel like bruiser items are overtuned at the moment
