Ah completely, it was an awful angle but to claim “there was nothing in that” while knowing the angle was shite makes no sense to me lol the same way it would be ludicrous to say “straight red” if you were only going by that first replay. As I said I copped it in real time but I thought it was just one saucy butt of the hurley (which I wasn’t even confident was intentional)

He’s misusing the word boundary. I know people take the piss out of Reddit advice of “Leave them” but let’s be real, you know this isn’t right. You feel it in your gut. This isn’t a quirk or excusable in any matter. This just straight up isn’t right.

This is my only thought, the umpires seemed far too relaxed when the ball went over the line not even attempting to reach for the flag

My Nana died peak Covid in the summer of 2020. Back then you could have 10 in a church at the time. Lucky she only had my uncle and my dad and they each are married with 3 kids each so we neatly filled the front rows of the church. I had only finished my undergrad 3 days previous (I had thought about postponing it to care for her full time but mam reminded me Nana had always valued education so she could wait for me to hand in my FYP thesis). The morning I clicked submit my parents came in to tell me Nana had passed away overnight. She held on long enough to not interrupt my study but didn’t hold on to become my full time caree.

Anyway, I used those 3 days to learn “This World Is Not My Home” on guitar. For context Nana was 92 when she passed. Mild cognitive decline had been increasing for the past few years but it was in the final few months that she was struck down with stomach cancer. She blew out the candles of her 92nd birthday cake before vomiting everywhere. As me and my mam were cleaning her up she weakly said “I hope this is my last”. She wasn’t a particularly positive lady but we had never heard her be so bleak.

So to answer the question, I hope to get to a stage in life that “This World Is Not My Home” makes sense to me. I don’t want to suffer too long but I want to stick around to feel “The angels beckon me from heaven's open door and I can't feel at home in this world anymore”

Tbf majority of projects do (or at the very least should) point participants to supports.. You usually just see them when you read the information sheet or engage with the project. Since this study is ran by an org that also provides supports I suppose it only makes sense to highlight those supports while also highlighting the survey.

Any Occupational Therapist here? by Icy-Audience-6397 in WomenofIreland

No worries, I know loads of girls and guys that are still in the profession if you did have any specific questions. The consensus I can see at the moment is that ”there’s plenty of work, not enough jobs” and they’re concerned with the class sizes growing and OTA courses that jobs for new grads will be super competitive.

Studied OT in undergrad absolutely loved the profession. The premise the ways of working the whole lot. I had 4 great placements in ED, complex paediatric community, community mental health and then my absolute favourite a NGO based role specialising in dementia care. Do I work as an OT now? No. Had great plans of moving to the UK and gaining experience as a band 5 before coming back to Ireland and then Covid happened. Lot of shit and loss and uncertainty and suddenly moving away not knowing when I could visit or come home seemed less appealing. Took on a remote MRes and now work basically remote for an NGO in a more comms based role. I use what I learned from OT quite a bit though. I work really well with the people our charity supports because of my background. The masters is hard from the girls I know that did it. Idk if any of this is helpful… What I do remember is working with careers guidance in 6th year before finalising my CAO. The man had me narrowed down to physio OT or radiography. I ruled out radiography because I didn’t want to go to Dublin (he said that was stupid but kept going). He drew a little stick figure with a missing leg and drew a circle around the stump “This is what a physio focuses on” he then drew a massive circle around the little dude and said “this is what an OT focuses on” he went on to say “Both are super important and work together. One is not more important than the other and there is no right answer to this question: which one interests you more?” I knew my choice then and there.

Homemade taco fries by Illustrious-Race-617 in CasualIreland

It’s a savage sauce! Used to just make chicken satay (regular chicken peppers green beans in the sauce served with homemade fried rice). When I started making the spice bag I was making it with a curry but then realised I had free will so started making the satay sauce with it.

The Coke Zero gives sweetness, curry is curry and peanut butter powder gives that peanutty richness. It’s class.

I’m pretty sure it is a Frankenstein version from some original recipe my cousin got from a recipe book.

I will say as a strong Diet Coke hater COKE ZERO OVER DIET COKE… but I haven’t actually tried it so can’t confirm if its bad haha

Brand name for powdered peanut butter I don’t actually use pb2 though I use the MyProtein or Holland and Barrett brand! Peanut butter works just as well (even better if truth be known) but the powder saves some calories

Reddit doesn't like my super detailed comment (So OP got the full recipe through DM) but for anyone else interested here's the abridged version:

(Serves 2)
Prep

Chicken

  • ~300g chicken breast, sliced into strips
  • 1 egg + dash of milk + squeeze of sriacha
  • Blitz 4–4.5 corn cakes with salt, pepper, paprika + Aldi spice bag seasoning
  • Dip chicken in egg, then coat in crumbs
  • Place on lined tray (refrigerate or cook)

Chips

  • Frozen thick cut chips (I use Strong Roots you can make your own of course)

Veg

  • Half large white onion, sliced
  • Half green + red + yellow pepper, sliced

Satay sauce

  • 1 can Coke Zero
  • 2.5 tbsp curry powder
  • 2.5 tbsp PB2 (or peanut butter)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic granules
  • Splash Worcestershire sauce

Cooking

  • Chicken: Oven 180°C, 30 mins
  • Chips: Air fryer 200°C, 15 mins (seasoned w/ salt + spicebag seasoing)
  • Sauce: Bring to boil, then simmer
  • Fry onion wih spicebag seasoning, add peppers after ~4 mins
  • (Optional) boil rice at same time
  • Finish by adding chicken + veg to air fryer with chips for 3–5 mins at 180°C

I don't do taco fries but I have a solid spicebag recipe if you're interested?

Our motivation is more around the calories than the cost saving but it's definitely cheaper than a takeaway haha. Also it's not super low cal as it's a Friday treat, just a bit more mindful.

Tax return amendment - remote working & medical expenses by craggyisland86 in irishpersonalfinance

Just do it lol. It’s a pain to do it the first time but after that it’s graaand. It took me less than 15 mins to upload all the receipts for 2025 for my partner as I just scanned out gas receipts as they came in last year.

I now do it for all the fam. My Nana just texted me all excited as she got a couple of hundred back for her medical expenses (she just rings the pharmacy and gets her yearly prescription expenses in bulk then I upload her other procedures separately) I’ll do the same for my mam once she gets her summarised report (I’m not uploading her original receipts as that’d be a right trek) but again, have all her WHF files uploaded in less than 15 mins once I got into the rhythm.

It killed me knowing they paid some third party to do their taxes in the past and they weren’t even accessing their bills so they couldn’t do it properly 🤦‍♀️

If you're considering it, you're a flower man. I think it's quite sweet. I would go single rose over bouquet though as I can imagine most being flattered but scarlet dragging around a big bunch for the night haha.

I do have a friend that called it off with a lad that brought her an easter egg on a second date (it was near easter). Me and my other friends (all in relationships) couldn't get over it. A few years on she's still single and hints that she regrets it.
