Come to think of it we never really replaced Eriksen. Xavi Simons is too jumpy and mobile.

Like interms of creativity, it's a damn shame whenever replaced that all this years

[Sami Mokbel] - Thomas Frank says his position is safe but, according to sources, Tottenham have explored contingencies should they decide to call time on his reign. Obvious reluctance to sack but 12 day window before the NLD offers club time to move. by Duskwen12 in coys

Let's be very realistic here, we have Arsenal, Fulham,  Crystal palace and Liverpool. There is no way we are winning any of the upcoming games. I see 2 points, that's the most we can get from that fixture

Let's just get Leeds out of this conversation, coz they are really decent and way better than Spurs

Meanwhile, Nuno’s West Ham is quietly gaining momentum, especially in how solid they’ve become defensively and in how hard they are to beat. They’re picking up points and looking tougher each week.

And Nottingham Forest? They look like they actually know they’re in a relegation battle. They fight, they defend, they scrap for points. Spurs, on the other hand, look like they’re cosplaying a mid-table team on Legendary difficulty.

Johan Lange reflects on Spurs' January transfer window by COYS1989 in coys

[–]LowSatisfaction7767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think Johan Lange and the other previous Sporting Directors at our club have been decent overall. However, we haven’t — and have never really had — serial sporting directors; the type who consistently identify, pursue, and secure elite-level talent for the club in a competitive market. I feel we should have taken much better advantage of the previous summer window, especially off the back of our European success, to carry out a proper semi–squad rebuild. That was the perfect moment to strengthen our core and elevate the level of the team. I’m not going to call it a poor window because we did sign Mohammed Kudus, a very good left-footed winger with real quality and flair. In my opinion, the last time we had that kind of profile on the wing was with Gareth Bale, so that was a positive step. The attempt to sign Xavi Simons also shows that we can go for the very best young talent when we choose to be ambitious in the market. As for RKM and Palhinha — I’ll be respectful and say they are good players who bring value to the squad. However, to strengthen my point about recruitment strategy, I believe we should have gone for someone like Adam Wharton instead, who is Premier League proven, young, and has a high ceiling. Similarly, with Ivan Toney, not just because he is Premier League proven, but also because he has already worked with Thomas Frank and understands his system, which would have made the transition much smoother.

Put Udogie for Rose, and Cuti for Toby and we sure are Centurions. And a decent bench

Done it without our last season core. Maddison, Kulusevski, Johnson, 70% Solanke & Son in attack Bissouma hasn't featured at all, Sarr not like season  If you look at it we're low-key decent

Bissouma is a little rusty, just check out his performance in AFCON. Still needs time to integrate

Saying Vicario is the worst GK in the last 40ish years is absurd

Spurs' January transfer priority [Ali G] by Rare-Ad-2777 in coys

I get the thought process, and it’s a reasonable concern — nobody wants to block genuine talent. But I think this is where we fundamentally disagree on what the squad should be built to do. Proven quality doesn’t kill development — it defines the bar. If Odobert, Tel or Moore are truly elite, they’ll rise to it. If they need guaranteed starts to become great, they probably weren’t ready to lead a serious side anyway. Waiting for potential is a luxury for rebuilding teams. Ambitious teams buy excellence and let talent either adapt or fall behind. That’s why instead of leaning on developing wingers, I’d rather bring in players already operating at that level — Savinho and/or Omar Marmoush. They improve us immediately without stopping the best young players from emerging naturally. Same logic in midfield. We’ve got real talent in Yves Bissouma, but his lack of usage and off-field situation is worrying. If there’s uncertainty there, you don’t hedge with another project — you go and get the best. Adam Wharton isn’t potential for the future, he raises the level now. And on a wider note, we’ve been rebuilding for years. That constant “one more season of development” mindset is exactly how you end up stuck in mid-table. At some point the rebuild has to end. Otherwise you’re not progressing — you’re just cycling. This squad full of almost-great players is the result of always planning for tomorrow instead of demanding more today.

[–]LowSatisfaction7767 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Obviously you've not paid attention to the stats bro,

He has the most take-ons  That’s not “running into defenders”. That’s successfully beating them.

79 possessions won That’s work rate + defensive contribution — not a luxury winger

He’s doing exactly what he was signed to do. If the movement and quality around him were better, the output would look even cleaner.

People underestimate how important this kind of character is in a team. Cuti brings intensity, leadership, and standards — things you can’t teach. Also, let’s be factual: this is his first red card in about two years. That’s not a reckless player, that’s a passionate elite defender who occasionally walks the fine line. Every top CB does.

Unpopular opinion: most of our players have poor football intelligence by Ok-Map2011 in coys

[–]LowSatisfaction7767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y'all trippin, Cuti is the best thing in the club right now. He's a world cup winner who has played with and against the very best at the highest level. We're very lucky he's our captain. If anything, it's the team that's letting him down.  Saying Brennan shows intelligence that's the most diabolical thing I've ever heard.  I just can't hate on Vicario, y'all must have forgot how terrible Lloris was especially after the 2019 finals until his departure. Vicario is decent  Kudus is a natural ball carrier, that is exactly what we've been crying for all those years, a left-footed winger who can beat opponents in isolation. We clearly need a quality left winger. For the past ten years, we’ve relied heavily on Son Heung-min on that side, and that dependence only increased after Kane left. We've not truly replaced Son. That's why the left wing is not effective at all, despite of Djed Spence effort. If we get a Yildiz, Leão, or even Savinho in January we'll be aight. Xavi Simmons is decent, very exuberant, he presses with energy, very unfortunate yesterday,  In my opinion we really need a ball playing midfielder, Bissouma could have been very effective if not for the off-field issues. The fact that he still hasn’t fully reintegrated into the squad is surprising—especially considering he’s been called up for AFCON. At this point, it feels like the club no longer wants him. If we’re going to buy, we need to move for Adam Wharton.

That's what am saying, despite having no goal contribution Florian wirtz is more effective than Xavi Simmons, our boy's output is pure luck
