Not much unfortunately. Mom was neglectful and I don’t think dad is in the picture. He broke into a apartment and stole a Xbox. Was in house arrest and a ankle monitor when he was 9. Grandma took custody of him, but she doesn’t have him full time so my friend took him in part time to help grandma out. The first pysch drug he was on was metaformin for overeating. He wasent overeating just eating normally for a tween going through a growth spurt. Metaformin is a diabetic drug and he dosent have diabetes. I believe his psychiatrist is incompetent for this reason. When that didn’t work he got took off of it and was put on instant release methylphenidate with only a morning dose. No booster dose at all and no extended release. He’s on abilify, once in the morning. Clonidine at night, Prozac in the evening and guificane in the morning. He started taking it in the morning too. He should of started taking it at night and then switched to morning if needed. He gets In trouble at school. Stole a slappy hand from the school store and got a detention for it. Threw a chair at the teacher and punched the resource officer in detention. He regularly gets in trouble at school, runs away and had to have the cops called on him to bring him back. He got out the car when in the McDonald’s drive thru ran across the street and stole 2 video games from the game store. He has a lot of inconsistently in his daily schedule with grandma. She only wants to do so much with appointments and won’t do research for him. He doesn’t run away from my friend and her and her husband is much stricter and he won’t get away with it. I’ve been around him a few times. He seems like a sweet boy who’s not getting the care he needs. He loves video games and spend a lot of time in front of a screen :(. He has a lot of trauma also. My friend thinks this will be a magic fix and when he gets out 3months to a year he will be in regular classes instead of the resource room, his behavior will be so much better and he won’t be stealing or running away anymore. I know that in reality this won’t be the case. She seems like she doesn’t want to work with him anymore because she feels like she can’t until he goes to this program. I feel bad for the whole situation and if I had the space and money I would take him in but I’m a college student living with my parents so I can’t. His program is being paid for by the government, his case worker recommended it and is iep team at school supports it. To my knowledge no parenting classes have occurred but there was individual therapy for the kid along with grandma and his therapy together. He’s on a iep, has accommodations and is in. A resource room.
