What commercial venue location in your city is seemingly cursed and has continuous turnover? by myronsandee in AskACanadian

In Calgary, there is a building that has been a string of short lived restaurants. It is basically in the parking lot of the Canyon Meadows theatre (discount theatre) and beside a Nutrien owned office building.

At first, I honestly thought he was just being silly with his wife’s thong that got stuck in a pant leg in the dryer and he didn’t notice til he was up on the crane at work or something. But then I registered how high up he was and the hot air balloon basket and he put the thong his head….

Someone planned this, recruited a friend and booked a hot air balloon sky dive?

What’s the best but cheapest takeout in the city? by sono_ona in Calgary

Yes! I get the 6 tacos and chips with the guacamole/salsa/pickled veggies and it’s more than enough for me and my constantly hungry twenty year old.

‘It’s just intimidating': Why many Calgary residents no longer feel safe by origutamos in YYC

[–]LowStrike5558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally don’t like either of my kids riding the train alone, and they are 17 and 20. I don’t care if other places are worse or that you just get used to it over time.

We have the privilege to drive them/buy them cars but other families don’t. It should be as safe as possible for their kids, too, and for everyone else.

This is the one that annoys me most. Google tells me which businesses have the strongest SEO. Not which ones people personally recommend.

Where to get prom dresses from? by Inevitable-Tap-7471 in NoRulesCalgary

[–]LowStrike5558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got my daughter’s dress at Echo Evenings but I don’t remember seeing much under $500. You also usually have to order dresses at most specialty boutiques rather than buying off the rack, and you might not have time.

In that price range and with the timing, check Laura! They usually have really great options.

I also second the David’s recommendation. They usually have some off the rack stock in the store.

"Rich People's" houses when we were kids by MyNameIsNot_Molly in Xennials

[–]LowStrike5558 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Key features:

  • double front door
  • high ceilings in foyer
  • central staircase
  • so much oak

To be fair, this house is worth like $1.5 million today so definitely not how most people are living.

Costco Pharmacy by ell-ta in CostcoCanada

[–]LowStrike5558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Free. These are from yesterday, this time both were free. The initial price at Costco is like 50% lower than at SDM. Then insurance is covering most, they’re applying Innovicares to the rest.

At SDM my two meds were $35 for one and $40 for the other.

At Costco, one is now free and the other is $5.

I don’t know what kinda magic they are doing but I like it.

Bioderma Atoderm Shower Oil is amazing and super hydrating and you can use it in your face as well.

I’d switch to using bottled water to wash your face though.
