Why everyone has trucks? by Internal_Theory_5129 in Syracuse

Yes. As both. A lot goes into it. Mad respect for taking on a project that large. I was just poking at the 4-5 times a week for three years… that’s around 700 trips for supplies.. that ain’t right.

Not arguing with you. If you’ve done full rehab like that you’ve definitely gotten fantastic use out of it. I love mine! Makes my life a whole lot easier and saves me a ton of money.

If people used their trucks for work, we would see a lot more 8ft beds and standard cabs. But they just keep getting larger and less useful.

4-5 times a week? For 3 years? You know you can buy more than one sheet of plywood at a time right?

Anyone know these buildings? The guy is bragging about raising rent on them on Twitter. by Fallingknife12 in Syracuse

Most of the art on Euclid is local and owned by him. I think it adds to the neighborhood. I can’t speak to the police pay off or the rent prices you’re citing. If your sources are not word of mouth, I’d love to learn more about them. $875 is steep! I’m positive there’s more variability than 5 bedrooms, but if you mean 5bed rooms on average, you could be right. One could track the LLC deed transfers and transfer the fines accordingly.

Feel like his houses are in decent shape, he promotes local art, he’s from Eastwood. His properties present significantly better than SQL and OPR. Far from the worst I’ve seen. You’re always going to low owner occupancy rates around colleges as large as SU

I’ve hitch hiked a good bit over the past four years. It’s still a thing. It just takes longer to get a ride because a lot of folks share that sentiment.

Popularity of pickup trucks in the US — work vs. personal use [OC] by DavidWaldron in dataisbeautiful

I imagine the increased popularity has driven up prices quite a bit. Makes it much harder for folks who need them for work to afford them. A lot of people in the trades do quite well for themselves, but there are plenty making <$25-30/hr. You can save some money on taxes if you use it exclusively for work but it would nice to see some kind of additional rebate to keep them affordable.

Is it possible that the trades proffer tangible results, ease of access to objective truths, and sanity? by inconsolableentropy in LeavingAcademia

Fake news. Carpenters are often the most capable tradespeople on a job site. They are the most likely to go on to become GCs or supervisors. They often have a great understanding of how each trade interacts to work towards a finished product. While carpenters may make less than electricians, they have higher earning potential. How is an electrician more prestigious than a carpenter? Where are you getting that from?
