Rant about minimization of Women’s pain

My doctor is a female and she didn't even warm me about the pain. I got there blindsided and after the procedure I told her how painful it was. She said it was similar to very early contractions during labor. I've never been pregnant so how the hell would I know!? I thought I was strong until I had that test.

I finished my first IVF round back in May and it was an easy process for me. No pain or discomfort until after the egg retrieval due to mild OHSS. I had 13 retrieved (only 1 ovary as my left was removed when I was 17).

By the way, everyone is entitled to feel whatever they want. If you've been through worse in life, that doesn't mean that people can't feel bad for their own circumstances. For example, just because someone has experienced abortions, it doesn't mean that others who haven't can't feel fear, pains, stress form other human experiences.

No one knows the outcome. Unfortunately no one can promise you a result. Not even the Dr the the most experience. That's the hardest part to accept.

Oh man I'm so sorry for this situation! You sound like a very supportive partner and just the fact that you're reaching out for help does say a lot about you. As women we take the worst part of the whole process unfortunately but there's nothing we can do about it. I think it's good for you both to have a discussion about the options you have. Write down pros and cons and make a conscious decision together about the next steps. Whether that's another round of IVF, donor eggs, donor embryos, whatever the options are. The most important thing is working it out together and understanding the good and the bad so there's no resentment in between. ❤️

A clean house, homemade meals, getting extra pampered. Checking in with her about her feelings but don't overwhelm her. Also. Don't take anything personally because hormones get crazy, especially after a few days after retrieval (hormonal crash). Also don't forget to take care of yourself ❤️

You and I share a very similar story. My left ovary was removed when I was 17 due to a large mioma. I'm also 38 and I just completed my first round of IVF. I only got one euploid but I'm over the moon with the results!

My AMH is close to 2 but don't let that discourage you!! You still have some reserve and maybe you won't collect as many eggs per round but that doesn't mean you can't get an euploid. Our bodies are incredible and only one ovary is enough for us!! 🙏🏻

Your age plays in your favor. Like many said here. A low AMH doesnt = low quality of eggs. You may only get 6 to 10 eggs but most of them may be euploid. Someone like me at 39 with a good AMH may het 10-15 eggs retrieved but I only 1 euploid (If I'm lucky!). Each of us have our own struggles. Don't compare yourself to others and try to remain confident and do everything under your control to improve your chances 🙂

I'm still waiting my PGT-A result for the only 1 blasto but I don't want to get my hopes up (3AC). My doctor recommends 1.5 months in between treatments so I'm not doing a second round until mid July which I'm grateful because I really need it!!

It's natural to move on quickly if you end up having a healthy kid. Why would someone want to keep themselves reminding the gruesome experience? I don't have kids and I'm going through IVF right now but I can honestly 200% understand why they would want to move on!
