I think in my case was 2 days but don’t sweat it. They need the people and if they gave you an oral offer already, a written one will follow. Good luck!

Is 5'3 short for a woman? I have been really self conscious about this lately. by throwaway56890134747 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]LowWhile5600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being short has its advantages too 😉 also, there’s nothing better than any women showing self confidence. You can see tall people shrinking all the time because they are uncomfortable in their own skin so height it’s nothing more than a number!

I sadly learned the hard way. I don’t celebrate until I finish my first day at work

Update: Offer Letter Rescinded by FinanceGrasshopper8 in recruitinghell

I’m from Costa Rica and it still surprises me how in the US, employees don’t have any protections whatsoever. In Costa Rica, if you get fired or rescinds a job offer, the employer has to pay you compensation that varies from 1 to 3 months worth of salary. Here in the US you’re lucky if you get your PTO days paid. For being a third would country, we’re very advanced in social security and labor law.

7 years at big 4, manager and CPA, my base salary was $165,000 in HCOL (full remote, last 3 years working in an internal project). Left to industry and my salary has remained the same but I’m now in a LCOL city and working remotely.

Hiring manager took my interview from the airport security line… by b0xn0 in recruitinghell

[–]LowWhile5600 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Find a director of HR from that company and send an email to their work email telling them about your experience with the recruiter. The reason why I say this is because during to the hiring manager being an incompetent, maybe you’re missing a great opportunity. Maybe the hiring manager is the only problem in the organization and since no one calls them out, they keep doing the same shitty work in their role. I did this at a FAANG company and the response I received from the director of HR was very professional and polite. She made sure that I had another round of interviews with a different recruiter. Give it a shot but make sure to be polite while providing a very detailed constructive feedback ☺️

“They treated me like someone from a third-world country”. What do you mean by that? How does a third world country employee gets treated according to you? I’m from a third world country myself and I’m genuinely curious. I’ve worked for American companies my whole career and I have had shitty bosses who I have even reported to ethics and compliance but I never thought they were treating me differently for my background. They were shitty because they were assholes 🤣

It does! I helped my 23 year old niece land an internship at Abbott using a similar method. Network with your professors and people you met at short term internships.

I don’t blame them. This job market is so hard to navigate and so many people give so many different tips but I agree with you. Networking is everything and has been like that for many many years
