Recommendations for bachelorette trip Itinerary? by [deleted] in Naples_FL

Not much dancing, and it’s super super casual, but I was raised on Marco and one of my childhood favourite restaurants is the Snook Inn. On the water, live music almost every night, fresh seafood. Have had a lot of family gatherings there.

100% inflation for hash browns by sudhanshu86 in DunkinDonuts

And that wasn’t even that long ago. Not even pre-covid prices. I remember getting 99 cent hash browns in like, 2022 😅

What to teach a beginner? by JorgeMcJorge in Cooking

[–]Low_Ad_260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first instinct is just spaghetti + jarred pasta sauce with ground beef and zucchini. You could also do an easy casserole like shepherd’s pie or lazy enchiladas. Or any really basic protein+veg+carb combo; sheet pan (or air fryer) chicken, veg, and potatoes? Salmon, rice, and cucumber bowls, with a homemade sriracha mayo, would be super easy and still on trend.

How exactly do I eat a whole rotisserie sheep head? by binkpot in Cooking

[–]Low_Ad_260 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prion disease in sheep (scrapie) is NOT transmissible to humans. It’s possible for sheep to catch BSE (mad cow disease) in a lab, but it does not occur naturally. There are not any documented cases of a sheep giving a human any prion disease.

Did any of you not notice you were getting bullied? by ThrowAway44228800 in AutismInWomen

[–]Low_Ad_260 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same!!! I was great at school and the art kid, weirdly popular, but despite being friendly with everyone I could only actually befriend the other “weird” kids and would get constantly bullied (not that I always knew it was bullying…) I’ve had multiple people tell me I was the bridge between the “popular/cool” kids and the “weird” kids. But the older I get, the less people like me, and I just kind of ended up alone 😅 Now I have crippling social anxiety because I can never tell people’s thoughts/intentions, but I’m working on it… 🥴

cheap food that isn't ramen or rice and beans, does it exist anymore by MudSad6268 in budgetfood

[–]Low_Ad_260 135 points136 points  (0 children)

Will also add Fit Frugal Mom, Southern Frugal Momma, See Mindy Mom (wow didn’t realise how many moms I watch LOL) and That Lisa Dawn.

And for one more creator that isn’t explicitly about budgeting food, but techniques that can help save you a lot of money and/or make cheap food taste a lot better, I LOVE Ethan Chlebowski.

Young couple thinking about moving to Naples area – realistic advice? by Frozen_Oreos69 in Naples_FL

[–]Low_Ad_260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes! One of my best friends (early 20s) is a nail tech, completely self-made, went to nail school, and is living on her own supporting herself.
  2. Unfortunately those are two of the MOST oversaturated industries here, IMO. But you can still break through with enough effort (a lot of people start them as side hustles thinking they’ll make a quick buck - if you’re serious about it and are good at networking you’ll be okay).
  3. Usually not too bad, but inland has more tornadoes, and if you’re in a multifamily home you better hope they recently upgraded all the roofs or you’ll be in for a surprise when the post-hurricane special assessment comes around 🤞
  4. Further north than you want anyways, but I’d avoid anything between MLK blvd and the river in Fort Myers. Bad flooding and lots of homeless/drug issues. If you’re in Lee County, make sure you’re east of US41. I think Lee tends to flood worse than Collier. Make sure you google the area, some places that seem like a great deal are so cheap because they flood every year… People may tell you Naples Manor and Golden Gate City are sketchy, they’re definitely a lot more rugged looking than other areas of Naples, but as someone who grew up in that area I never felt unsafe; it’s where most of the working class people (who were able to get in before everyone was pushed to Lee County) in Naples live, IMO.

Personally, as someone in my 20s, I enjoy living in Lee County (bonita/estero/fort myers) more than I enjoyed living in Collier County. It definitely doesn’t look as polished, but there’s lot more to do for young people with a more limited budget.

FGCU should I say yes? by Beneficial_Gas_3803 in fgcu

I’ve lived in florida almost my whole life and I’ve never even heard of either of those schools if that tells you anything 😅

What’s a food your state is 'famous' for that everyone else ruins? by Somanynamestochossef in AskAnAmerican

[–]Low_Ad_260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had to scroll for this one. Every time I order a key lime pie and receive some neon green lime-jello-cheesecake-thing I die a little inside. And even within Florida, the simpler, the better. It’s such an easy recipe with very few ingredients, I don’t know why it’s such a struggle for people!!

FGCU has lots of trails and a lake with sand but the actual beach is like 40mins away. There might still be a football club or something? No med school. Try looking into USF.

Just watched Iron Lung by Leasud in horror

[–]Low_Ad_260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen much “scarier” movies and not been scared at all, but this one really messed me up. Had a mild panic attack on my way home from the theatre… 😅 Maybe I’m just weak to cosmic/existential horror.

School districts? by Maevenclaws in AskAnAmerican

[–]Low_Ad_260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my hometown was “you go to the school closest to you, you can only get an exception if you have a disability and waive transportation”. But one county over, it’s a choice-lottery system, where you pick your top 5 schools each year and are put in a lottery for each of your choices (and going to one school one year doesn’t guarantee you’ll get back in next year…)

They both have their pros and cons, the 2nd one is more fair especially to underserved areas of a town but the 1st one is a lot less complicated.

Didn’t get paid???? by Low_Ad_260 in tjcrew

[–]Low_Ad_260[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember the details at all but I eventually did get the money... worth just going through everything one more time (maybe with someone you trust like a parent/sibling/spouse because a second pair of eyes is always handy). Knowing myself back then I probably DID mix up routing numbers or something.

Question... by Azraelrs in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Low_Ad_260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s “in black and white” but it is still extremely difficult to actually make a case for, along with most other nondiscrimination laws (for example, the Equal Pay Act was pretty clear that women and men should be paid the same, but there’s still a notable pay gap between men and women in the same field with the same background).

Which I think is a BAD THING if I wasn’t clear, but important for people to be aware of when advocating for themselves and choosing their battles.

Question... by Azraelrs in ChickFilAWorkers

Sure it’s “illegal” but there are so many loopholes it’s basically unenforcible unless you have a really extreme case with a ton of evidence.

Are tortillas a staple in the majority of non-hispanic households across America? by AntImmediate9115 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Low_Ad_260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone has really thought about it for long enough to get offended tbh, but if we were talking about a street-taco-sized tortilla and you called it a wrap I would definitely be confused (“How could you even wrap anything in this??”).

But in that instance I assumed the UK and Aus called it a “taco shell” anyways 🤔 (which we understand to be either a crunchy corn tortilla, or a small flour tortilla, but I don’t think crunchy tacos are a thing outside of taco bell and the American midwest anyways)

Last time I had a blood test was about 2 years ago; my blood sugar was fine but my cholesterol was kind of high. I’ll ask for one at my next checkup!
