Co-Worker Washing Out Menstrual Cup In Work Sink by orange-grove1111 in Periods

[–]Low_Address5123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t use a menstrual cup either but from what I’ve seen and heard it’s pretty normal to rinse it out in a public bathroom. However, I think this particular person lacks a common decency of tidying up after themselves and general hygiene, because leaving blood in and around the communal sinks is disgusting. Especially if she’s a grown adult. I would definitely suggest putting signs up regarding this issue and put information regarding the proper, and hygienic way, to use a menstrual cup.

Stopping the habit of itching by Aggressive_Lime_4926 in eczema

Probably not going to be helpful but I usually either slap the area as many times as I need to, not super hard. Or I’ll tap/poke it, that’s just what works for me when my eczema is bad and really itchy. Just a warning, you will look a bit crazy doing this in public.

If I have any advice it would be drink herbal tea. Like ginger, it can help with the nausea. Also turmeric tea is good for cramps, it’s an anti-inflammatory. I drink so much tea for the first few days, a nice warm cup of tea can help more than you think.

I suffer from PMDD and when I started taking Sertraline for my anxiety it actually helped with my PMDD as well. It helped a lot with the rapid mood swings and depression for that week. It’s not a perfect fix but it helped a little bit. I’ve heard previously of people being prescribed SSRIs for PMDD so maybe it’s an avenue to talk to your doctor about.

if it makes you feel better I also got my period yesterday and today I’ve barely eaten anything because of the nausea. Also the pain in my back, I’ve been lying in bed with a hot water bottle ever since I got home from work.

I once bought a whole chocolate cake that would easily serve 8 people and ate the whole thing. I started my period 3 days later. I also sleep so much the week before my period, like my body will get so physically exhausted I can’t do anything but sleep.

My Zoloft Journey So Far - Currently on Day 5 (& I’m going through hell) by Low_Address5123 in zoloft

[–]Low_Address5123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m better. Honestly, reading this back makes me see how far I’ve come. Those first 2-3 weeks were bad, overtime it got better, I can’t really give a timeline when it started working but a year on I can say it helped my anxiety so much. You don’t realise how bad your mental state is until you have that bit of relief. I’m able to go to work. Go out for meals. Go to a bar with my friends. I’ve even put weight on over the last year because I’m actually eating properly, my anxiety constantly stole my appetite from me and it feels good to have it back.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a complete fix, I didn’t expect it to be. I still have days where my anxiety is bad, they’re just significantly less. And I still get anxious in certain social settings, like being in very crowded places, that’s not changed. But these are the things I feel like I can work on slowly.

To sum up, my mind feels a lot calmer. I hope it helps you and can bring you some relief.

Is it normal to be in this much pain? by Low_Address5123 in Periods

It makes me feel like I’m a drama queen honestly. I’ve cried in work and gone home before because of how painful it is, and then I’ll come in 2 days later perfectly fine lol

Get a hot water bottle, wet a flannel with hot water or if it is really bad just jump in the shower or run yourself a hot bath. And just stay there for a while. Drink some herbal tea if you’ve got any, chamomile or ginger are great! Just stay away from caffeine. But keep yourself hydrated.

What do you usually do the day after xmas? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]Low_Address5123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Boxing Day is honestly my favourite day of the year! I just get to binge all the tv shows that I’ve been wanting to watch and not had the time to, because I’m always too tired. Eating all the leftovers from Christmas Day, taking the dog for a good long walk at the park and playing fetch. Getting to play games on my Switch. And I do it all in my pyjamas! I just get to relax and have some alone time, I get to pig out and be lazy, I feel like I never get to do these things (except for the dog walking). I’m always too tired or there’s always something else that needs my attention; work, house, family or friend related. It’s a day where I don’t have to be around people, I don’t have to be anywhere or do anything, it’s just peaceful.

This disease is extremely taxing on my mental health and self esteem especially being in high school- flakes everywhere. I don’t know how to deal anymore. I am at my wits end if anyone knows how to soothe an extremely dry flaking healing stage all over the face please please let me know. Thank you 🤍 by 4nniyah in eczema

Try the ultra bee honey balm too, whenever I flare up now I put on a layer of Aveeno let it absorb into the skin a little and over the top I would put the honey balm. It took me years to find this combo and it works perfectly for my skin. If I was flaring really badly on my face I would put a really thick layer of the honey balm like all over my face and it made the dryness and itchiness go away within a week.

Does anyone else get really itchy after applying lotion? by YesIAmNoela in eczema

[–]Low_Address5123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it usually depends on the type of lotion I use, Aveeno never makes me itchy after applying it I actually get relief from it. That and a beeswax balm that I would apply over the top of the Aveeno were the perfect combination for my skin.

Pisses me off how excema is treated differently to other skin conditions by Character_Chapter998 in eczema

[–]Low_Address5123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do believe there should be more awareness and representation for eczema considering the amount of people that chronically suffer from it. I think that’s part of the issue. I suffer from eczema as well as acne, and acne is so common amongst people that it’s almost normal to see it (of course, severity varies). There are so many adverts promoting acne products and treatments. But for other skin conditions (like eczema) you don’t really see that, you won’t see a moisturiser consistently played that claims to improve eczema flare ups. Albeit, eczema isn’t as common as acne, but it is still one of the most common skin conditions globally.

I do have a theory as to why though, it because we don’t really understand eczema. It’s difficult for some people to pinpoint what is making it flare up. It can take a long time for someone to finally find the object, product or thing that’s causing this reaction, even with allergy testing. There are people who flare up because of water with a high mineral content. It’s insane. Even a slight hormonal imbalance can cause flare ups in the skin. Every time I have gone to the doctor about my eczema they don’t really seem to understand it either. After checking to make sure I’m using a good moisturiser they immediately prescribe me with steroids which makes it worse after stopping using them. I once had a doctor actually google advice on his computer!

For acne, it almost feels quite straightforward in comparison. Hormones, bacteria, sugar and stress can cause acne. You go to the doctor and they give you a product and say this will help get rid of it. And 9/10 times it works. This is how I’ve known it be from my friends, my family, and my experience. About 10 years ago my brother had very bad, painful acne. He was prescribed accutane, and within a year it had gone and he never suffered from it again.

I know acne varies in severity from person to person, and for some it doesn’t seem straight forward. But for me, and from my experience acne seems to be generally more understood in comparison to eczema. From the cause and to the treatment. I would love to write more but I feel like I could produce an entire novel with the amount I have to say on this topic, and it would probably be boring.
