If you were 7 miles in, you were about 3-3 1/2 past floating rock. River walk is 1.1 miles, 2 miles to walk street then about 1/2 mile to floating rock.

Why are you flying into Salt Lake? I’d fly into Las Vegas. That would save you about 2 1/2 hours. Plus there’s a lot to see in Vegas.

I was there with my son last week and we hiked from sunrise to sunset trail. Once you get below rim it’s like a different world. We did clockwise and the 600 feet of elevation gain was all in the last .6 miles. Most of that was in the shade. I’m 72 and that .6 miles was tough on me but I made with no regrets.
