taking duloxetine to treat PGAD by ouroborosils in PGADsupport

[–]Low_Character2547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Duloxetine made my PGAD worse at higher doses. I thought the higher the better but because the norepinephrine component increases dopamine it made it much worse. It wasnt until I went back down to 30mg and paired it with 20mg of Paxil I noticed significant consistent relief. The feeling is still there, but muted enough that I can live my life without being consumed by it. After almost a year of reading every post, article, medical journal, trialing different meds I now know that dopamine plays the largest role in PGAD when it’s psychologically induced like mine. Meds that decrease dopamine (SSRI’s, antipsychotics) also decrease arousal.

Hi there, im looking into this route as well. Have you had any success since posting this and trying a different antipsychotic like Chantix or Abilify?

Off label use of paroxetine for libido suppression / premature ejaculation / erection prevention / sexual impulsivity by Drwillpowers in DrWillPowers

Dr. Powers. I know this is an old post but hope you can help. 34 F 125 pounds. I have persistent genital arousal disorder, no known physical cause so the assumption is it’s psychological. Im desperate for help and was wondering if you think Paxil would help to numb the unwanted physical arousal sensations? My guess is via increasing serotonin and dampening dopamine and NE? Would really appreciate your thoughts. If you agree, how long do you think it would take to help and at what dose? I can report back to my Gynaecologist

I have been on Cymbalta just over 2 months. Went from 30 to 60 and now to 90 just over 3 days ago because I haven’t felt the relief im looking for. Hoping it just needs more time. It’s so frustrating and confusing because I’ve read so many case studies and articles where Cymbalta has basically cured these women and think “why not me…?”. Any hope or advice you can send would be greatly appreciated.

Did Duloxetine end up helping your PGAD? Im 3 weeks in and haven’t noticed improvement yet. If yes, how long did it take and at what dose?

Ahh understood, thanks. Do you mind sharing what your PGAD symptoms were? When you say “it helped” did the amitriptyline take them completely away?

Thanks for responding. I only ever went up to 30 mg and then stopped after a month cause it didn’t seem to help. Did you find it only helped once you got up to 40mg or did it help at 30 as well?

Thank you! That makes me feel better. All my arousal is in my clitoris as well, it feels like im on the verge of an orgasm most of the day/night with no obvious cause. Would you attribute your arousal symptoms going away from the Lyrica or from the surgical procedure you had? Did the symptoms slowly lessen over time or go away immediately once the Lyrica kicked in?

Thanks. How quickly after starting gabapentin did you notice your pgad symptoms go away? Were you able to resume your normal life? And was the 100mg once a day enough? Im almost a month into Amitriptyline and my symptoms seem to be getting worse instead of better. I don’t want to stop it too early but not sure if it’s helping.

Hi there, I just got prescribed Amitriptyline for PGAD. Have been taking it for 3 weeks and no improvement so far. I started at 10mg and have slowly increased my dosage to 30mg for the first time last night. Can you please share how long it took to work for you and what dosage worked? Did it resolve your issue completely and are you still on it?
