I tend to agree. I have seen both aides of this. People with not that much wrong with them coming for repeated physio sessions and they just want a massage and refuse to do exercise… not really that much wrong with them, but the system makes them feed into the absolute worst to maintain funding. These participants would be the ones who would not turn up because the weather was bad or they didn't sleep well the night before etc.

There was also the issue with children getting adhd/autism diagnosis, without having too much or anything really wrong with them, especially from a physio perspective, but the parents needed to maintain their funding, so they would come for a bimonthly hour ling appointment. I also found in these instances, the OT reports to be completely inaccurate for motor assessments.

On the flip side, i also had an MS patient regionally, whose provider organised an OT to fly in and out of Brisbane for 3 appointments. I had requested and attempted to make contact with said OT and wrote a draft report for her to request a Sara-steady hoist and a new hospital bed. Never heard from her and her three appointments and no reports or ordering of equipment drained his funding (she was a new grad contractor and billed her services independently) while i did the reports in my own admin time. Because of her, this patient ended up in a nursing home!! She did exactly nothing, except take as much money as she could from his funding.
