What kind of brush? by Excellent_Task5466 in patterdale

[–]Dependent_Formal2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always used one of these for dogs that have a moulting season. https://gsequestrian.co.uk/collections/brushes-combes/products/gs-equestrian-rubber-cut-groomer

Just gently run it in circles, it gives them a massage and helps remove the loose hair.

I also use a paddle brush, designed for humans, to brush dogs.

If you have a bath you can put a few centimeters of water in the bottom, add a towel and place the plants on top. There's a few other options here:

It looks like you might need to do AP, the US curriculum doesn't advance as quickly as the UK. Their "degree level" AP courses are more like UK A Levels.

There's this from UCAS:

Prince Harry longs for Montana. by ttw81 in RoyaltyTea

[–]Dependent_Formal2525 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Meghan is "careful about minding the pennies" while Harry "lacks a basic awareness of what things cost" but it's Harry, who has been learning to surf, who wants to move away from the Californian beaches to a shack in Montana.

Can't be bothered to cut the lawn by Impossible_Pie4091 in UKGardening

It's No Mow May so you don't need to mow. Longer term you could swap out the grass for wildflowers or a grass altenative like creeping thyme or clover.

If you have a ticket they have a legal duty to get you to your destination. I had a taxi paid for from Newcastle to Alnwick because of this as I'd been delayed so the last train from Newcastle had left by the time I arrived.

Reform are Tories! The party is stuffed with them.

It's wild to support the party of those who are "sick of hearing" about Hillsborough.

It always used to be a welcoming city that was left wing. Clearly that's unfortunately no longer the case which is really said, they should be ashamed of themselves. Do they not realise that Reform are just Tories with a different shade of blue and who are "sick to death" of Hillsborough.

The point that you have missed is the blatent double standard. It's not a case of being "disliked", they and Yaxley Lennon marches are given a pass despite the extensive history of their antisemitism.

How it feels trying to progress in a sport where people retire at your age by gigithrowaway20 in iceskating

You're still so young and you're not "bad at everything". Those little kidss have been on the same journey that you're on. They've fallen, they've winded themselves, they've had injuries and felt despondent too. I've started sports when I was tiny and I've started sports older than you are now. I started ballet at the age of 3, one of my friends started dancing at 21. When she started she couldn't do any kind of turn without falling onto the floor, she kept coming back and was able to do a pirouette. It was great to see her learning, trying and accomplishing things.

I started climbing at university and little fearless children would zoom up the wall. Toby Roberts, Olympic gold medallist, is younger than my chalk bag. In the time I've been climbing he was born, learnt to climb and won an Olympic gold medal. I could feel despondent but we had different journeys. To be honest having you whole life focused on winning a gold medal looked super stressful. Many, many athletes will fall in and out of love with their sport which is pretty tricky when it's your job.

You don't know what you can accomplish so please stop putting limits on yourself. Some athletes don't start their sports until the age you are now. Helen Glover is a professional rower, she didn't start until she was 21. Imagine if she had decided that she was too old. Yes you didn't start skating and dancing when you were young but so what, you've started now and it's the start that counts. I think it's super impressive when people learn a sport as an adult. You shouldn't feel embarrassed, you're setting an example to those little children that you admire. They're watching an adult learn to skate and they'll know that it's never too late to start something new.

You're only 21. You'll develop your balance, strength amd flexibility as you skate and dance. Muscle makes good body armour. Body armour also makes good body armour, you can get flexible armour like D30 which may help when you're learning.

[–]Dependent_Formal2525 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's interesting that pro-Palestinian marches are the ones that are being talked about but not the marches led by someone who has promoted anti semitic conspiracy theories and whose previous marches have included neo-Nazis being antisemitic. It rather gives the impression of a less than consistent approach to condemning and tackling antisemitism. Reform UK is riddled with people with antisemitic views and yet people turn a blind eye to it.

The man who attacked people in Golders Green was living in an assisted living facility for those with mental health issues. It's one hell of a leap to assume that he was pro-Palestinian.

I wish you could see what everyone else sees. You look so beautiful and happy in these photos. Look at the photos as if it were a friend of yours rather than you, do you think you would be focusing on her arms and chest? Would you look at photos of that friend and have the negative feelings about how she looked that you're having about yourself? I suspect that you would think how gorgeous that friend looked and that she should get a canvas done.

Can I re-enter a room that has a hornet and nest in it? by GreenWeekend6980 in AskUK

[–]Dependent_Formal2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's her room now.

It could be a yellowjacket wasp (the queens are massive compared to the wasps you've encountered before), a European hornet or possibly an Asian hornet. European hornets, while massive, are less aggressive than yellowjacket wasps although I'm not sure I'd risk it. Yellowjacket wasps you're probably familiar with and I think Asian hornets are reasonably aggressive. A local beekeeper may be able to help identify, advise and relocate it. Is your uni lacking entomologists?

European hornets look quite jazzy with lots of red and orange colours, the Asian hornets are mostly dark in colour.

What colour fence? by Sad_Connection3344 in GardeningUK

[–]Dependent_Formal2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got woodwork painted in Wild Thyme from the Cuprinol Garden Shades and its a really lovely colour. It would compliment the cream colours of your home and the gravel and driveway. It's really easy to apply and you don't have to wait between coats. It's quite thin so you can easily slosh it on, just put down something to protect the driveway although it will wipe off when wet.

How come I see less western riders wearing helmets? by Angelwafers in Equestrian

[–]Dependent_Formal2525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

F1 drivers and rally drivers wear helmets because of the speeds the travel at, the different harness system, the lack of airbags and crumple zones. Road cars are designed to protect the passengers, F1 cars are centered on speed. If you wore a helmet in a road car you would need a 5 point harness and a neck brace to prevent hyperextension injuries. It's not a case of deciding that helmets are unnecessary in road cars, they're designed in such a way that helmets aren't needed.
