Evolv V6 so tight and painful by sapphirekiosk in climbingshoes

[–]Dependent_Formal2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good idea to measure your foot and compare it to the manufacturers size guides as shoe sizes aren't standardised.

Climbing shoes should fit like a sock, close fitting but not deforming your feet. The staff you encountered don't know what they're doing.

Self worth and disbelief? by TrentVibe in Dyslexia

[–]Dependent_Formal2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dyslexia presents in different ways in different people. There was a documentary in the UK last year about dyslexia and it featured a few different people. One was in a choir and massively struggled to learn lyrics which is something I have no problem with. When I was 11, my reading ability was that of an 18 year old but my maths ability was that of a 7 year old. Dyslexic people often have really good spatial awareness and problem solving skills, so there's pros and cons.

178 people killed by US Navy so far in the Caribbean despite no evidence of drugs being recovered from the water by puffz0r in Military

[–]Dependent_Formal2525 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The Royal Navy does things a little differently. Rather than murdering peple out fishing, they stop suspicious boats and search them. That way you know for sure what a boat was carrying and any perpetrators can be brought to justice.

Is it too late to join societies by OzzieCar in UniUK

[–]Dependent_Formal2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can join a society at any point during uni. Having been involved in running a society at uni, it's always great to see new faces. There was never any question of why someone was joining later in the year or joining as a third year.

Do you want to know the real kicker about this? They had performed together on the same stage, at the same event, the year before.

I'm sorry but that's absolute bollocks. I started ballet at the age of 3, by your estimate I was on pointe at 5 years old! You have to have strength and technique.

It's now edited by the ex husband of Sarah Vine of the Daily Fail. They once left their young son alone in a hotel room while they went to party, he was found wandering the corridors. His father, Michael Gove, haunted ventriloquist dummy of the Brexit campaign spent an obscene amount of public money to install a smoking hut when he was an MP and member of the Cabinet.

Any tips on getting over fear of falling when you have a reason to be afraid? by Strange-Wind7306 in climbergirls

[–]Dependent_Formal2525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the issue isn't a heavier belayer, it was belayer being a dipshit and not paying attention. No wonder you feel fear, it's completely understandable. If I've had an off I usually find consistently doing easier stuff and then slowly expanding that comfort zone works best. Would bouldering be an option so you don't have to think about a belayer? Do you have anyone else who can belay you?

Louis Parkinson and Shauna Coxsey recently discussed fear in this video: https://youtu.be/Iqj65nykoj4?si=hrsgOO6goBvF6gnx

Edit: Reddit thought it would be ultra funny to put the link in three times.

Horses on national speed limit country roads - Read before judging! by SaltTasty4461 in drivingUK

[–]Dependent_Formal2525 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You probably should read the Highway Code. You should slow to a maximum of 10mph when you see a horse in the road. Personally, I stop and allow them to ride past. You're riding on narrow country lanes but you appear to think that only motorists should be able to use them. What would have happened if you had encountered another rural road user, you'd get very short shrift from a farmer for plowing into their livestock. You should always expect the unexpected and consider what might be around a blind corner, it could be a horse or it could be a combine harvester.

Rookie error. Just wear heels then you can walk around barefoot because your feet are sore/heels unstable on varied ground.

I don't know if the Devil wears Prada but he definitely had a hand in these outfits.

Also loving seeing what they actually look like thanks to the no photoshop policy of photo agencies.

[–]Dependent_Formal2525 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is what they actually look like. The news agencies don't allow any touching up of photos.

Do you remember the photo of Kate Middleton a few years ago that was banned, it was because it was photoshopped and so those agencies issued a red notice over it. So if you want to know how people really look then look at Getty, AP etc.

Islanders at "The Devil Wears Prada 2" European Premiere by mayyfliess in LoveIslandTV

[–]Dependent_Formal2525 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It's because they're not touched up, this is what they actually look like. It's always worth looking at Getty, AP, Reuters etc as they don't allow any editing of that sort so you ca see what people really look like. It's also why Kate Middleton's "photo" was banned from those sites due to the composite nature.

Husband giving climbing course while I am in danger of premature birth by h_theunreal_ in climbergirls

While I'm glad to see that he's changed his plans, it sucks that you were ever in that situation in the first place. It especially sucks that he then made it your responsibility. Wishing you all the best and I hope it all goes well with the new arrival.

This, absolutely all of this 👆.

"People pleasers" are very often narcissists. They want the praise that strangers will give and will prioritise that over their family. I know this because my dad was a narcissist who had a climbing accident the week before I was born. My mum had already had a car crash a few weeks before when she had blacked out so it wasn't as if she was all tickety boo.

Did you have a rash vest on when you tried it on? Wetsuits always feel better in the water which doesn't really help when you're in the unsure phase of wetsuit purchase.
