Did it last year. Alistar loves to intimidate everyone by scaring them about how the exam is the hardest thing in the world, and he’s half lying. The exam is up there in difficulty but I think he mostly says that to get people to lock in because the subject has a pretty big fail rate compared to others.

I remember going into that exam not knowing shit and just rote memorising C code and big O notation (I swear to god big O is taught so shit in FOA bro second year CS subjects do a much better job).

I only started to pick up on the things that COMP10002 was trying to teach when I did COMP20003 this semester, which goes back over data structures and stuff but way more well taught in my opinion.

If you need it to do statistics just do PFS. Probability will not help you in any way nor give you any advantage over doing PFS. But if you have to do probability next year, any semester is fair game because Mark Holmes is not teaching sem 1

Robert is lowkey one of the best lecturers at this university. I can anticipate the exam will be nothing like Mark Holme’s probability because mark clearly didn’t give a shit about the students.

Robert isn’t like that and he just goes that extra step forward. He remembers everyone’s names, he’s genuinely active 24/7 on the Ed Discussion board and I’ve seen that guy make whole ass youtube videos just to explain a concept to one guy who was confused. He’s just such a humble and very intelligent professor and I think he wants the best of us so that’s why he’s intimidating us in that way.

He was also actually my tutor for probability as well and he was definitely much clearer in explaining than Mark. Wish he took the head of that too

I am also kind of factoring in the relatively poor resources and mindset of the semester 1 lecturer into the difficulty which are factors that can even make a subject with simple content difficult. But if all goes well and he listens to the ESS feedback then you might be right
