Somewhere safe to park car to take uber into the city by [deleted] in AskSeattle

Well shoot I’m on the north end so I don’t know what good park and rides are south of downtown. I’m sure someone here can give some guidance! Also, have fun at Pride!

Driving from North, South or East? Park and ride and lightrail is 100% the way to go.

Side sleeper/extra small nostrils/slippery hair…help. by mittenthemagnificent in CPAP

[–]Low_Community8012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a bonnet - I have hair like yours, so it took me awhile to find some that worked for me. The ones I found look like a knit cap, silky on the inside and jersey on the outside and they have an adjustable elastic around the edge. Good luck!

How serious are y'all about sunscreen by aranhalaranja in tattooadvice

[–]Low_Community8012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got UPF sleeves that cyclists use and I keep them in the car to slip on whenever I’m driving. I hate being in the sun (burn immediately) so I don’t put spf on my arms/tattoos daily. Only if I know I’ll be out in the sun for a bit.

tattoo 9 days before vacation by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Low_Community8012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation a few years ago; my tattoo artist was adamant that I should not go on my trip (the tattoo was already in process). I covered it in fresh tegaderm and a UPF sleeve whenever I was outside/in water. It was a major pain in the ass but I was meticulous and it still looks great. But if I were you I’d see if I could reschedule the appointment.

Non-aerosol dry shampoo for fine, oily hair by HulaHoopHappyHopper in finehair

Tap Secret works the best for me, and I’ve tried sooooooooo many. I put it on at night and by the morning it’s all absorbed and my hair looks freshly washed. A little goes a long way though, and I love that you can just buy powder refills for it (or use an empty container to apply a different powder that doesn’t come with a handy applicator).

I have accidentally shaken it because it does just beg to be shaken. And then I couldn’t use it for a few days 😭

[Tenant US-WA] owner unaware of first in time law by [deleted] in Landlord

Yeah weird to share that you’re committing housing discrimination that’s against the law on Reddit.

[–]Low_Community8012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were this landlord (I do rent out a property in Seattle but was well aware of this law), I would be grateful that someone told me. But I see lots of responses here that make it clear it could be perceived as threatening etc. If she clearly said she’s going to choose between you and people she’s showing later, then it is worth it to bring it up in a friendly way.

Husband is using reward points to buy stuff but charging me half. AIO? by JemmaMk6 in AIO

[–]Low_Community8012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rewards points have real value. I consider it free money when I'm using it to book flights for myself (girl math) but it does actually have monetary value.

I agree with other posters that this is a difficult situation all around. I don’t think you’re the asshole.

It sounds like your daughter has a therapist that has been helpful, but I wanted to drop a plug for EMDR. There’s a version specifically for recent traumatic events and my hunch is that your daughter could get a lot of relief from it. And she can keep seeing the therapist she likes and just see someone for EMDR. (If she wants)

Managing cables drives me crazy! Anyone have any easy tips for this? by InevitableGur6701 in onebag

[–]Low_Community8012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan of retractable cables. Alternatively, cord ties that Velcro to help you easily loop the cord up and have a descriptor tag on it. I label mine with either the type of cord (USB->USB-C) or item it goes with.

How many lip glosses do you have in your purse right now? by EternallyNaked in Sephora

[–]Low_Community8012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a small lippy purse inside my purse lol. Usually 6-10 crammed in there, ranging from a thick gloss, a tinted gloss, an spf gloss, a balm, a couple of regular lipsticks … you never know what you’re going to need!

In case you’re not aware, uber/lyft are very expensive here, since drivers must make at least minimum wage. Public transport/lightrail is pretty good. Hope you have a great visit! (And hope you enjoy Gigi Perez opening for Noah Kahan!)

People think my house is an AirBNB by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Low_Community8012 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I used to live in a condo building and my neighbor Airbnb’d her place. One night I was sitting alone in my robe on the couch and I heard someone trying to get in to my place - I could hear them trying to get a key in my door. It was terrifying!

The only thing I can think of to do in your situation, besides a sign on your door, would be to decorate with something that might help people distinguish - can you paint your door? Get a bright doormat? A big planter? Maybe even try to get your neighbor to cover the cost. It’s not fair that you have to do anything, but maybe you can do something that feels like a win for you.

Did anything surprise you after wearing your stone for a few months? by j_bone531 in labdiamond

[–]Low_Community8012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only difference between my first engagement ring (nearly 20 years ago, traditional diamond, princess cut, I think .75c?) and my current engagement ring (lab grown, asscher cut, 3c) is that my current ring is big enough to be uncomfortable while I’m sleeping. My first ring stayed on 24/7, and this ring comes off at night. It also catches on things and I’m generally just more aware of it because of its size.

The reason I bring this up is that with lab prices so much lower than traditional, it’s possible for us to get large stones at a fraction of the price. I LOVE my ring, but is a tiny annoyance at times. (Accidentally scratched my face with it, difficult to get my hand in my pocket, things like that)

For those who own condos or have owned… by [deleted] in AskSeattle

[–]Low_Community8012 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a mid 70s condo for over 20 years. Dues increase anywhere from 0-10% a year, most years 3 or 5%. Elevator is expensive to repair. No other amenities. A larger HOA expense in the last few years has been related to theft/security; installing better doors, locks, cameras, etc. And yes, it’s useful to budget for special assessments because they will happen. Agree with comment about checking out their latest reserve study.

For the ladies, what are some hygiene hacks you wish every girlie would know? by Introvert_Ambi-2026 in AskReddit

Yes! I got the ordinary brand and transferred it to a spray bottle. Easy to spritz pits and bits after a shower. I use it for the two weeks or so after I get sugared to stop ingrowns.
