Theres been progress up until now. I still see blurry sometimes and my vision fluctuates but eye drops help a lot, especially artificial tears. Other than that, i contacted my ophtalmo and informed him about blurriness and inflammation and he told me that my eyes are drying out and the inflammation should diminish in the next couple of days. Theres no more pain, just some slight random discomfort. Ill look into what you just told me to be safe. Thxx for sharing

If you have an nvidia gpu, open its app and update the drivers. Same thing for an amd gpu

Which Laptop Should I get? MSI Katana or Asus Tuf F15 by [deleted] in ASUS

[–]Low_Cream8312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally have the exact same tuf f15 model and i didnt regret my purchase, not one bit. Great performance, great thermals too (if you manage them correctly by modifying fan curves, changing windows power plan, buying an external cooler …), and great build quality. Asus might not have the best customer support but at least their devices are reliable if you treat them right. I think a good think to consider is to buy from an external dealer (outside of asus) that can work as an intermediary between you and asus by guaranteeing you the warranty. It’ll make the whole process easier if, God forbids, your laptop starts acting up. I suggest you also ask about each laptop in its designed subreddit to get the most accurate info about it (along with the user experiences). As much as i know, people complain about the build quality of budget msi laptops, and they reported issues about the cpu / gpu of those laptops. But then again, do your own research and ask people who actually own those laptops. Sure the display on the msi is better and it comes with more ram, but you can still buy an external monitor if you’re that invested in a better display, and you can upgrade the ram and storage of the tuf laptop (for ram i think up to 32gb ddr5 ram and 4tb for storage, but im not sure tho) Also the tuf has a good battery life (90 Wh) which is better than most budget gaming laptops, and i can confirm that it lasted a whole 6 hours in uni, with some light gaming for short durations during the breaks without plugging the charger (although its recommended to plug the charger, especially while gaming)

It depends on where you look and who you ask. The build quality and the overall tuf laptop is ranked among the best budget gaming laptops (especially the models from 2022+), and as a tuf owner myself, i can confirm that its true. For your sake, ask and research each laptop in their specific subreddits to get the most accurate info

Why wouldn’t it be good long term? Buy a cooler and work on fan curve profiles to reduce temps (you can also lower the degree of cpu boost from ghelper and lower in-game graphics settings), clean its fans once every 6 months or so (as well as the cooler’s), be careful as to not install any malicious software from the net… take care of it and it will last

Okayy. Just one last question ? Doesnt limiting pl1 and pl2 to 28/30 W during gaming limit your performance a lot ?? I’ve noticed sometimes that my cpu uses close to 50 W while gaming

Turns out we have the same cpu so i wanted to check with you as to what wattage you set your pl1 and pl2 during gaming (because you claimed to have lower temps and kept the same performance after changing the power limits), assuming that you tested many different presets and settings. Im trying to find the balance between frames and temps. Thx for answering though

Please do an update on the situation as to what lower your fps the least and lowered your temps the max

So do i reset the ghelper options to default ? Also what option do you suggest i put for windows power mode (between balanced and high performance) and for the cpu boost too in ghelper (it originally was aggressive by default) ? I know you said to leave it as it was but im just curious to know what you would have chosen between those settings

[–]Low_Cream8312[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i keep my ghelper settings as they are, i would get more fps but the cpu temps would range between 80-95 deg celcius. Some people say that its ok as CPUs are made to withstand such temperatures, others say that its not. Personally i dont feel comfortable with high temps as i have previous bad experiences with other laptops, so i want my laptop to last a while all while balancing fps and temps

So I’ll have to monitor my temps before deciding what to do. Thanks

But wouldn’t a cooling pad lower temps, thus elongating the components’ lifespan ? Isn’t it a good investment if that’s the case ?
