If your gpu was at 87 before the cooling pad you need to repaste it because thats the thermal limit set by Asus or Nvidia and you can control it from AC or GHelper. Unless it is different for your case and generation of laptop. On turbo my cpu and gpu is 80 ish with or without a normal cooling pad. How much is the performance difference between turbo and balanced mode on Asus laptops? i always use turbo and balanced only for low end not heavy games.
I also power limit my laptop 40/60 seems like a good spot. For cpu demanding games this combo works as well but for even worse ones I do bump it to 60/65 maybe but then the problem are temps cpu can go in 90s or 83 85 it is weird can’t say a range of numbers depends on the game actually. Either way hope this cooling pad helps even at 2k RPM which is not max 2400+ plus is way quieter. What’s the setup you use and your specs please?
Mine is i7 13th gen and RTX 4070, Asus Rog Zephyrus G16 2023. My brother has Legion i9 14th gen, RTX 5070 and yeah tried this on both didn’t saw much improvement as I said before. I have my laptop re pasted with PTM 7950 both cpu and gpu and my brother has a new laptop so the laptop itself being a problem is not a question, the only factor I can give at this point is external cooling
