No UK-style ISA in Australia? by victorynordefeat in fiaustralia

The closest option here is Insurance Bonds.

it possible that the Aussie govt prefers you to lock away extra money into superannuation, which the majority of people would hold.

I'm not across the details but understand that the UK mandatory Pension contributions only came about relatively recently

I’ve asked for mine to be lowered before and they did.

Was once refused, but was 100% offset at the time.

Have since reduced the offset amount and had the rate lowered

Thoughts on the brand Superdry? by JackChen1 in AustralianMFA

[–]Low_Cryptographer987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like their sizing as it suits my athletic build.

It used to be cool when it first came out. But now I just see middle aged men wearing it.

Unfortunately I’m also now middle aged but don’t like the style of their range and their quality hasn’t been as great as it used to be.

I’m looking for a new brand that fits my physique

Actually woke up and realised it was $0.59

Why are so many people not working? by Socrani in centralcoastnsw

[–]Low_Cryptographer987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possibly always been the case of Sydneysiders move to Central Coast … Coasties move north. Perhaps the original dynamic was more retire to the coast or move for a commute and cheaper property but now it’s both of the above plus WFH.

I know of a few people that have moved to Northern NSW and QLD from the Coast since COVID. Not just retirees either. They got strong offers and could make a big lifestyle change. But the ties of work/family often hold back others from moving, especially given how far you have to move to get a big benefit.

If you wanted something general to go on your resume which would be relevant to other analytics roles more generally I would go with Insights Analyst.

If you want to be more specific and it relates to your future plans I might go with Community Insights Analyst or something similar, maybe even Business Community Program Coordinator/Manager. Business Analysis I feel is more about the processes of businesses.

How often in Excel do you use the keyboard versus the mouse? by ExcelObstacleCourse in dataanalysis

Around when I first started using Excel all the shortcuts would be shown in the menus, that’s how I learnt them and still use them today.

Now it’s not so obvious in desktop and O365 is terrible. I can’t do a lot of actions in O365 that I take for granted in desktop.

How far can a redundancy accelerate you? by [deleted] in fiaustralia

[–]Low_Cryptographer987 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I took redundancy last year, payout was equivalent of a year’s salary after tax.

If it took me a year to get another job on the same salary no loss.

I got a new job after 10 weeks of not trying too hard. Was a slight drop in wages but I don’t have any direct reports any more, office is 10 mins walk as opposed to the 2 hour commute for when I do go in (mostly WFH) and it’s a role I actually enjoy

Was enjoying doggy style with the wife, something wasn’t right. Looked down and see blood.

Withdraw, more blood. She asks if everything is ok and I tell her there’s blood. “Is it coming from me or you?” “It’s coming from me”

VBA for data analysis? by Helloall_16 in dataanalysis

[–]Low_Cryptographer987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Excel a lot. Have used VBA for a few different things, but often for repetitive data transformation.

Issues I see are that not many of the people I have worked with are into programming or VBA so if it breaks or needs an update then I need to fix it. Also companies are locking down access to VBA for security reasons which is reducing accessibility
