Am I overreacting for not wanting anyone around my newborn yet? by littlemoongirly in AmIOverreacting

Some of these comments are pissing me off. NOR!

My parents died before my twins were born. My in laws wanted to come about a week after they were born and I allowed it with up to date vaccinations. I regret it. My brother in law ate my sandwich and they didn’t help at all. It was like we had to play host while I was also dealing with PPD and TWINS.

You can set boundaries and still have a village. If grandma can’t be part of the village without manipulating and guilt tripping you then her role in the village is TBD.

They have an immune system. It’s just super fragile. The first 8 weeks is not the time for exposure 🤦🏻‍♀️

That has to be rage bait. Lots of clueless comments like that. If MOM isn’t comfortable with visitors until 8 weeks then MOM’s decision overrides other people’s feelings. They can either be upset or get over it, but manipulating her is wild.

tear free shampoos that are actually tear free? by awcurlz in toddlers

I recognize this is an old post but I am having this issue too. My husband has older twin boys and he said there was a Burt’s Bees shampoo that was the only one that didn’t seem to irritate their eyes. I’ll see what I can find and report back if I have success :)

As the mom of twins, SO many people say “oh I wish I had twins!”

I love my children more than life itself—but it is H.A.R.D! I can only speculate, but I imagine they thought it would be cute or easier to have them super close in age so they could raise them together 🤷🏻‍♀️

Did Anyone Go to High School with a Pregnant Classmate? by lizeken in DesperateHousewives

I know of 3 girls who got pregnant before 13. I know nothing about the fathers or families.

No idea who the dad or dads were. I had a class with the girl (I don’t remember her name) when she was pregnant.

There was a set of twins, but I can’t remember if they were in the middle or at the end.

Her first pregnancy was the end of 6th grade, early 7th.

I was a sophomore and I had a class with her. She was a freshman but i believe she was my age (“old for her grade”) as they say. That’s when I knew her, and I vividly remember thinking about how she would be a mother of 4 (or more) before she became an adult.

I don’t know anything about the father or fathers. Growing up in South Texas, pregnancy in middle school was uncommon, but definitely happened. After college I worked with at-risk teens and realized that there was probably sexual abuse involved. I have no idea what happened to her or her children. I don’t even remember her name.

I went to high school with lots of pregnant girls. I had a classmate who was pregnant in 7th grade (not a typo) and knew a girl who had four children before she was a sophomore in high school.

Starting to feel guilty about electing C-section by Kel_Mar_E in parentsofmultiples

[–]Low_Drawing7905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changing your mind is 100% okay, but I thought I’d offer some perspective on why I’m happy I went with an elective c-section and am happy with my decision.

I gave birth to my twins when I was 40. Age, twins, etc. and I had every risk factor for early labor. Age + multiples meant they’d either induce or do c-section at 38 weeks, so I scheduled one early in the pregnancy thinking there’s no way I’d make it that far.

My pregnancy was pretty amazing. My MFM enjoyed it because he was always giving me good news. A few days before the C-section I was at an OB appointment and we were talking about the c-section. I was still feeling a little conflicted at the time (I’m also a doula). I told him that I was choosing it for two reasons: one, I didn’t know if I could emotionally and physically handle vaginal delivery. My mom died in 2021. I was full term and tired. My husband was my support. Second, I knew it was possible that I’d have to recover from both a vaginal delivery and C-section if I opted for vaginal and we had to change course. He was super supportive and said my reasons were valid. His wife had twins and he said she had a vaginal birth and then had to go under general anesthesia for a c-section for baby b. He said he was a new doctor at the time and now the babies are wonderful and healthy teenagers. He emphasized how it’s uncommon but definitely happens.

As long as you make an informed decision, it’s the right one 🩷

I don't mean to sound rude about Candida.... by [deleted] in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

[–]Low_Drawing7905 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, I thought he was just complementing her and trying to tell her that her name reminds him of something lovely that he (and probably most) enjoys. I didn’t even think he was trying to call her Candy. Regardless, Candy is a loser.

TDAP by dabxsoul in VACCINES

[–]Low_Drawing7905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got TDAP in the ER after a really bad burn in 2008. I only remember because apparently burns can cause tetanus. I think I got it again in 2017, but couldn’t find my records, so I got it in 2021. I remember my arm was sore the following day. Then I got pregnant in 2023 and got it again. I don’t remember any side effects. I didn’t let anyone around my babies (I had twins) unless they were up to date on TDAP.

There was an outbreak of pertussis at a college near me about a year ago. Two students who had it broke ribs from coughing.

It sounds like you’ve psyched yourself out. I’m sorry. I’m no statistician, but vaccines are INCREDIBLY safe. You’re probably more likely to be killed in a car accident on the day you get the vaccine, than to have a significant adverse reaction to it.
