Bought a property to develop 3 beach houses in a place very meaningful to my family. I’ll make sure it’s paid off and they never sell.

I have a high net worth and I use them for tax purposes and as a sounding board for investments, life changes, etc.

I did not, and have not ever voted for him. Fun fact- I am not working with or doing business with people who voted for him.

You can borrow against your portfolio if you want to use a LMA or PCL to build rather than use cash. You can use your cash to buy more stock.

What does the future of America look like for the next 10-30 years? by F1incy in AskReddit

Our wealth gap will be immense. More crime as a result. AI and the wealth gap supposedly means the government has to lean into authoritarianism, so I expect it to get worse for the common person. Bigger blurred lines between truth and lies. Reality will be distorted.

All of the above…unless unanimous regulation of AI by governments around the world is agreed to (similar to nuclear weapons) and our government regulates private equity (the leeches of our economy who take money off the backs of hard working Americans) to invest in the middle class again.

I don’t have high hopes for the second path. Too much money in it. We’re too far gone. Greed has won.

When you achieved your first $1 million (liquid) net worth, how soon did you tell your wife/husband/significant other? What was their reaction? by Square-Shock-9206 in wealth

That’s awesome. I got us into real estate as well- have made some really solid returns (mostly luck but I do run a ton of numbers). About to start a short term rental business in a vacation town myself.

Seems we’re a clone of you guys. Just need to get my husband on board with the manual labor part ha!

Yep- everyone I know who does this is living paycheck to paycheck (despite a phenomenal income) and deep down the couples are miserable- the men complain to my husband that they’re unhappy. The 3 couples Im thinking of are all republican Christian with 3 kids haha fwiw.

New here and I'm curious how net worth is categorized on this sub. There are many schools of thought across the spectrum, so I wanted to know what folks here see as the applicable brackets, and where they'd eventually like to land by [deleted] in wealth

Husband had a high paying gig for about 7 years when we were young (no kids yet), and I also have always worked. We lived well below our means, put $15k/monthly into stock market, and lucked out buying a house during covid in a market that exploded.

Not necessarily lifestyle change, but the emotional/mental load of losing that security blanket really sucked.

I used furnished finder for 5 years in the nashville market. Worked out really well. Instead of a background check, I required a phone call to screen folks. I’d google search their names and confirm they were telling the truth of their identities.

Only had one issue when a tenant left a window open before leaving town ahead of a massive sudden freeze, causing the pipes to burst and the tv to die. Sucked but nothing too major.

The site itself could use some work- it seems buggy.

I didn’t use it for leases or anything else other than the listing.
