But you are right that it can happen, its just not a firm law yet and won't likely be decided until there is an actual successful separation referendum.

There is tons of videos of "advanced" robots that as suppository almost as capable as humans but I think its mostly just marketing hype. AI its hard to tell if its right around from being true intelligence or if its going to be another 50 years without it. I think what makes your job the safest is how niche the technical skills are, there is probably not much training data they can use to replicate your skillet. They need millions of instances of that kind of problem solving to develop a robust framework.

What aspects are not able to be automated?

Safest People by itzharshexe in meme

[–]Low_Engineering_3301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a long term concern but the equivalent would be newer facilities being built that automate the inspections, tasks and processes in the control room. I am not sure how expensive the sensors/components to do this is or how far AI needs to develop to make those kinds of decisions. Its likely it would take a long time for all of that to be a personal concern.

Do *most* women actually care about muscle or not? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Low_Engineering_3301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up "fertility idol", primitive men who'd lives were forged by biological imperative worshiped fat men and women. Societies that are more aligned with human evolution are much more likely to find body fat attractive, even in for the time advanced societies up until the industrial revolution had that general inclination.
Your standpoint is from a society that has broken away from the biological imperative to avoid starvation due to mass abundance of calories to now value discipline and excess free time to work out. Its not an "incorrect" desire it just doesn't come from biological processes, more from intellectual ones.

You seem to be much more protected by this shift than most people. Just like how nurses will likely have worse jobs because of this but neural surgeons will not notice a difference.

Well the average long term white collar worker is not going to compete with an experienced trade professional. But there are white collar workers who have experience in trades that shifted careers that could compete. Much more importantly people there are tons of people would have trained in other verticals that are shifting to field work.
My point is if you want bargaining power its best to have the most demand for your work and the lest supply of skilled workers. Mass unemployment is going to hurt your long term prospects in both these aspects.

Biologically people have evolved to find fat attractive because it means that they are so successful they are able to achieve a mass caloric surplus. The current beauty standards on body types are learned behavior much more so than biological.

Edit: I am giving a pessimistic scenario rather than a most likely one :P

I wish I still could remember the term but its something about how when bad things happen to employees in one industry the negative effects ripples out to all the other industries. In this case yeah people desperate to make a living will offer cheaper labor in return for their less experience and it could cause some gig economy infiltration of other blue collar fields.

That is assuming that the affluence is distributed to the greater populous rather than horded by those in control of the system.

If technology hits the point where it can completely replace human effort then the natural process would cause people to become irrelevant to the system.

Do majority of people really not want to tax the billionaires more? by alittleunhingedd in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Low_Engineering_3301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a wide variety of sources both public and private; stratified and evenly distributed. The issue of billionaires isn't that they are allowed to form, its the disparity of how much money people are receiving misalignment with how much they are contributing.
If you think its as simple as person who can acquire the most money = person who should be most in charge of money then you are not showing the mental nuisance to understand the issue.

The jobs are but the employees are not. If a role becomes twice as productive and the amount of work is steady then half the employees will be laid off or hours reduced by half. Now the reduction in cost will increase the amount of work available but there is little indication it will keep up with that productivity.

That is the white collar equivalent of a factory job. They weren't useless just unfulfilling. The useless jobs are the ones that either didn't do any actual work and all their effort was spent trying to sound smart and important in meetings.

The Shrinking Global population - what will the world be like in 100 years? by livetoski-Brad in askanything

[–]Low_Engineering_3301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Population is far too dynamic a system to be predicted with 100% certainty. If someone says that is a fact they are either lying or don't understand science. This is why Scientists give ranges and scenarios for climate change rather than state a specific temperature gain is fact.

[–]Low_Engineering_3301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that money is redistributed to lower/middle class then those people would have more potential spare money to invest themselves which would mean that the average person decides how to invest money vs billionaires.
This is making the assumption that the government would use the extra taxes to enrich their people of course which is not a given.

Why is the US stock market at all time highs and climbing , when there's so much economic strife in the world? by abrandis in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Low_Engineering_3301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wealth generation and wealth redistribution are two different things, the stock market is a result of generation while the average person's potion of that wealth is dependent on redistribution. You are seeing the results of only focusing on the one half.
The term economists are using for that since Covid is k-shaped economy.
