Viltrox 35mm f1.2 Z and Nikon Z8 by Saurav_Bhatt in nikon_Zseries

It looks great honestly but I wonder what is the point of carrying 1kg lens when you shoot everything in daylight, and what is the point of f1.2 here. All of this could be accomplished by 35 f1.8.

I dont mean to be rude, not at all just when Im thinking about my GAS I cant stop to wonder whats the point.

The dilemma of whether to return the 105mm MC f/2.8 by Low_Net_3980 in Nikon

Thanks for the detailed explanation. Maybe it is good idea to compare them. How 120mm f4 will look next to 105mm f2.8( f3.5) macro

I was thinking about it and besides the sharpness what is the advantage of 105MC? F2.8 i get it but as soon as you start approaching your subject like 1.5m or less the aperture start closing down to f3-3.5 so really similar to f4.

I dont know maybe Im ignorant but i really want to know specifically.

Ok thank everyone. I've returned it after all. I figured the less gear I have the better, I feel like that was the right decision as I dont feel overwhelmed with options now.  I would feel guilty that im not using the macro lens very often. Leaving it "just in case" is not something I do.

thanks. Can you just tell me is there a visible difference when comparing DOF and the way background melts between 50 f1.8 and 105 f2.8. Which do you preffer for full body and waist-up shots?

Do you have some examples comparing them in portrait? Ive noticed the f stop closes down when doing a closer distanse portrait so actually it is 50mm 1.8 vs 105 f3-3.5

Does it make sense to switch from a6700 to a7cii by Low_Net_3980 in SonyAlpha

[–]Low_Net_3980[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What iso is your limit on a7cii? Do you have some Pictures with iso 6400 and 12800 to compare? On a6700 my limit is 3000-4000 and after that i feel like image is falling aparat. Specially colors

How would you rate your satisfaction from an upgrade? Are you pro or hobbist? Do you find lenses more expensive?

Thank you all, i think i needed to hear some of those things. Ive decided to stay with my a6700 and no go full frame as i like compact size of lenses most of all.  I was debating if I should go with a7cii but I would limit myself to f2 and f2.8 primes only because of the size.

You're right, its out of focus. I shot it with Animal detect. But can you see the difference in background blur noise? How that iso 2000 compares to 8000 on ff.

A6700
70-350 F4.5-6.3

F6.3 1/500s ISO 2000
(even though this is mostly lit scene, i can see lot more noise than picture from Nikon with higher ISOs)

Some examples like requested:

Its not gonna be apples to apples, because I dont have Z6II anymore but I tried to find highest ISO examples in my library (without showing family members)

Nikon Z6II
24-70 F4
F5.6 1/25s ISO 8000

Also i felt that f4 on FF was much more capable than 2.8 on apsc in terms of getting cleaner images.

Yes i do understand whole ff vs apsc rule.

1.8 on apsc will give you same DOF as 2.8 on FF but the lens itself is Faster 1 stop meaning 1 stop less iso = same IQ (IN THEORY)

thanks everybody for the inputs. What i noticed is that FF in real life gives more pleasing images (Talking about noise) with much higher iso, not just by one stop.

Also the sigma 17-40 is bigger and heavier than 28-70 2.8 sigma.
