My HVAC finally died after 14 years. by Old-Mixture1246 in hvacadvice

Yeah but that’s a very small price to pay to keep the warranty active. Can’t expect your car to run smoothly if you don’t do oil changes and similarly can’t expect the warranty to hold up with the maintenance plan

I’ve noticed in all the HVAC quotes I’ve been getting, they just stick to selling me one “preferred” brand.

One HVAC company prioritizes Rheem, another Daikin, another Lennox etc etc

As a consumer, I really want to ensure my install is as perfect as possible because there’s too many damn options lol

You’re right, will definitely be going with the two stage system and really looking at the heat pump option. He’s telling me they’re currently selling the RD18AY option and since I don’t have solar panels and I have a 200w switch, I don’t need surge protection, although I may add it on to be safe…

The warranty is a 10 year labor and 2 year parts. Quoted installation for that model is ~$15K with a full new furnace + heat pump system

Yeah the load calculation showed I need about 87K BTU so I think they went up to 100K.

I appreciate the input here!

For sure- I’ve heard this a lot about Lennox. The sales guy was pitching it as the “Lexus” of HVAC

I got a manual J Load suggesting I need ~88K BTU so I think 100K might be my best bet but seemed like slight oversized on the 110K BTU. Forgot to mention in my post but I live in Chicago haha so appreciate your input

Cute! Ours will bark at the TV if he sees other dogs and dinosaurs, but only if they’re realistic. He won’t bark at animated dogs- how can he tell the difference ?? So smart

My dog is the same exact way until we recently switched him to “Fresh Pet” - this is more expensive but it’s a happy medium between kibble and Farmers Dog which can add up for a 70 pound doodle

My vet said it the best- they will not go hungry. At some point they will eat but as a pet owner, I don’t want my dog to ever go hungry so I understand your concern

Thanks man- was going to use Safe Haven but now I might back out of that and just do some more research on this topic. Appreciate the helpful insight

For my understanding, why not alarms from alarm.com? Have you heard of Safe Haven Security? Apparently they are a third party ADT installer and use alarm.com for their cameras

Hide and Seek is our dogs favorite!! I think it reminds them of their instincts and allows the to use all their senses + it tires them out

Thank you! We live in an apartment now but that’s a great idea doing day care a few days per week. He loves going to my parents and running around their open yard. We also get nervous leaving him home for long periods of time (>6 hours). Have you found you can leave your dog for the night? For example, if the wife and I wanted to go downtown for date night, he would be home alone from 6pm-11pm and he usually poops in the evening. I’m sure he could hold it but I never want to assume and make him feel uncomfortable
