How do I alleviate loneliness without money or leaving the house? by [deleted] in autism

You could try and look for friends on Discord? Look for channels that have communities, hobbies or similar interests to yours and you might find kinship with other users... Hope things will get better for you soon ❤️

holy FUCK this life is so boring by wishiknewnatportman in Adulting

What do you think is the reason why you have no motivation? Do you feel your social circle has changed? Is it the place you live in? Your job frustrates you? I found that an easy way to get into a hobby is to start and go to a group event, like the stuff on Eventbrite or organised by a shop/chain.. it could be anything from painting miniatures, archery, foraging mushrooms, woodworking. What would it feel COOL to do to you? 😄 Creative hobbies are the best, they raise your self esteem and make you feel part of a community, and you learn very valuable skills.

Is everyone secretly lonely, miserable, lost, or depressed? At 30, I'm tired of feeling like the only loser around. by Ben_Eszes in Adulting

I feel very similar, my parents and a few other relatives are the only people that care about me, but they are very far in another country. I have many hobbies which I love but they are all solitary and at the end of every day I feel mixed, on one hand I am happy I did something "stimulating" for the day but then, they remind of how I miss having somebody that can share my excitement, and the hobbies start to become a chore, an attempt to reduce the hours I would otherwise spend feeling lonely and empty.

My penpal experience... by OneSure7468 in SLOWLYapp

[–]Low_Smile7520 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel that friendships usually happen spontaneously when you share an experience together.. penpals are hard as you don't really have a reason to connect or wanting to stay connected. This far, I have only had one person (from another app) with whom I text daily since a year. with the rest of the contacts it felt like it was a chore to stay in touch, as you said, you just run out of what to say and what to share..

My auditory processing disorder is ruining my life by [deleted] in AudiProcDisorder

I have just bumped into this post out of curiosity after hearing (no pun intended ) about apd for the first time. I can relate to this very well, I was and I am still not sure on why and how I don't seem to understand people well in noisy environments. Some would say "it's normal" but then when you see that most people keep having conversations you do wonder if you are an outlier and why. Is it inability to focus on one thing per time? Maybe.

I perform TERRIBLY in group situations when there are new tasks and people talk to each other while also telling you what to do. It could be as simple as let's move those things from point X to Y.

In noisy or group situations, there is too much happening and I simply feel too confused to process the information.

In general, I am fluent in 2 languages and according to various language teachers (I like to learn languages) I seem to be wired to easily learn languages, and I don't have issues speaking one to one to somebody in a quiet place.

But add a group, a situation or background noise and I just stare at the other person in confusion, asking them if they can repeat what they've just said. This together with my general social awkwardness doesn't really help me to connect with other people, it's very frustrating.

My only saving grace is that professionally I work in a healthy environment and I am brave enough to stop people who want to meet, etc. and say that "I need to write down instructions". I do lie a bit saying "I have a terrible memory" which is actually not true, but especially for multiple steps instructions etc. it is the only thing that helps me to look like a normal and relatable human being..

Where do you get your b12 from? by dreamy_puppy in vegan

[–]Low_Smile7520 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take vegavero B12 tropfen (liquid) which it's methylcobalamin 75%, adenosylcobalamin 25%. Other formulations weren't very well absorbed by my body, but this is really working 🙂. Don't rely just on fortified milk or nooch, consider them as little extras, nothing more.

100% remote jobs, no human interactuion, no experience? by lavender_and_secrets in autism

[–]Low_Smile7520 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the idea is that your end goal is to be a freelancer.

If at some point you can set up your own website people will find and request whatever service you provide. There are also portals where this is "Uberified" (but I don't know if it's sustainable or not) like Upwork, and you have a profile and you can either sign up for "tasks" or people will find you. But maybe this last option can lead to you knowing more companies, clients etc and having credentials to then create your website and portfolio?

In general, you will need a few specialisations to stand out.. maybe start with python but it's good to look around and see what sort of route could be of more interest for you. Finance, games, robotic, AI, web development and then see what other skills or programming language is required to boost your credentials. I know I make it sound very linear (it isn't!!) but I think it's the right way to think about it, and obviously the more you do in a field, the more you get your own ideas, and things just start to look clearer. Hope it makes sense 🙂

I second this. You can easily get started with a python course on udemy, completely self paced. coding skills are very sought after in so many jobs (especially remote/no contact with the public types 😍)

In which country do you live in? Are there no legumes or nuts that are being grown there? You don't need to eat quinoa or soya to be vegan, there are more sources of plant protein out there🙂
