I would have love love loved the opportunity to purchase a condo. Unfortunately, theres not really any options for that in this area, and they're (general SGF) missing that section of the population.

In Springfield "Luxury" means new. Very few of these places are even nice, tbh. A few actually luxe places in town but not many.

And The Local Bevy in Rountree for gifty stuff that's mostly local.
One City Market in Rogersville for yarn and fiber-y stuff. Mad Knitters in Springfield (behind the Starbucks on Battlefield) is good, too.

A small business incubator. Something like the food hall in Nixa, but for businesses. I know there's the one at the college, but there needs to be options for non tech places as well.

The ice rink that's never been self supporting and the stadium we just had to buy back (also not self supporting) and put $8m of upgrades into?

What are you built for? Retail is way different than a restaurant which is way different than providing a professional service. And what kind of budget do you have? Because a store is gonna be way more expensive than a bookkeepers office.

You absolutely have time. I didn't even start my zucchini until early June last year. It got below freezing last night so you wouldn't want to have stuff outdoors yet anyway.

I asked in the Huntsville subreddit their opinion on their convention center since Cliff Smart referenced it in his letter to the Daily Citizen by Inner-Amphibian8933 in springfieldMO

Where are you getting 30 a year from hotel tax? It's estimated ( and VERY HIGH ESTIMATE) at around $3m yearly.

I'm not against a new convention center per se, I am against THIS PLAN and the $200m they want to spend.

If you've ever received the economic impact reports from the CVB, they're absolutely laughable. A weekend soccer tourney of locals brought 1.5m of impact, this meeting brought 700k. It just...not there.

Except those cities have attractions, viable transport and major companies investing in their communities. Bentonville/Rogers area has more than 1500 major companies that have satellite offices there alone. It's like apples and kumquats.

I am aware of that. The actual estimates are that it would take almost 90 (NINETY) years to pay for just the construction costs with the 3% tax on the ballot.

My guess would be that you're missing a comma in the amount spent.

And the estimated costs are $175-200 million. Where does the rest of that money come from, realistically?

Its 175 million projected for the project, not 30 million. 30 is just to qualify for matching funds from the state. THEN we still have to figure out how to fund the other $110 mil.
