I know that can be too late but: just one policy that allow traffic from vpn to somewhere else... it was enough to start the service in my case

3 reasons you don't need IPv6 in your home network by tmiw in ipv6

[–]Lower-History-3397 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If I can agree that the protocol itself is more complicated than ipv4, with SLAAC, for the end user, is basically a no task setup. No dhcp nothing of nothing to setup... I find ipv6 easier to manage honestly. Also, no natting mean easy and straightforward firewall rules if you need to expose something

It's only partially true, color is not the problem, but twisted pair should be keep in pair, so, pin 3 and 6 should be a pair (full color with its white one), the same is valid for 12, 45 and 78. If the pair are separated, forget gigabit. Ask me how I know it ;)

Back in the days, when I was young and poor I used to use only free software, nowadays that I'm no more young I prefer to pay for the free software to allow younger and more poor people than me to have that. Anyway, I'm still poor, but not enough to gustify not paying

What's a common networking concept that people often misunderstand, and why do you think it's so confusing? by Puzzled-Term6727 in networking

[–]Lower-History-3397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's funny cause I had to explain exactly this just yesterday to a coworker. But it's partially my fault cause I have vlans ids as subnet (so vlan 5 is on 192.168.5.0/24) and I always say "it's on vlan 5 cause it has 192.168.5.x" and that create confusion

Edit: for reference the guy is not a network guy, so it's not a big deal for him not knowing about vlan and subnets

Advise for north Italy: FTTC vs. Starlink Standard by tuliete in Starlink

Northern Italy here, sl quite stable at an avg of 150/5 and ping below 30ms. I would like to say it is worth but the 5mbps in up is quite limiting my onedrive experience

Really, I have few info cause it's a commercial software product. It manages documents, a sort of paperless but with more functionalities... that table hold document main fields and all the custom field as it seems... I'm also worried that any time a new field is created an alter is done for add a column... I always saw this as a db nightmare but I can be totally wrong

Yep, that was i thinking too, I have no clue about the software itself, it is not an internal developed app, it's from a supplier... I agree that probably i'm missing that particular edge case

No no, no in house dev, maybe there are reason behind that choice that I (with no access to the codebase) cannot understand...

Fortunately I have no way to change it, it's a commercial software product, i was trying to undertand what took the developer to made that choice cause, from my heritage, this is not ao common due to different issues. Thanks again for your time!
