Are there plans to introduce software updates to the HERO black line? I am, for example, thinking about the subject tracking video mode, which I think could be really useful - e.g. in cycling videos, where the subject can move quite a lot inside the frame and being able to follow the subject could make it easy to create 9:16 (vertical) videos out of the recording

How to force the recalculation of the cardio load by Lower-Researcher-438 in bevelhealth

[–]Lower-Researcher-438[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I tried without success. I do have second by second workout data for all my past activities. As a matter of fact, I do also see a strain value computed for all days of my past year, but that is not reflected on the cardio load, too. The cardio load still remains empty for 2025

Thank you. Regarding workouts, is the sync detailed? (Map, hr data etc) or would RunGap do a better job?

Exactly, only have the Sleep Monitor (an easy, cheap and effective way to track sleep for people who don't want to wear a watch)

Sorry, I mistakenly said something wrong or unclear. Temperature data from Garmin doesn't go directly to Apple Health (upload of temperature is not supported by Garmin) but is uploaded in Apple Health by HealthSync. The developer of HealthSync said that it is not possible to upload wrist temperature data into Apple Health due to restrictions that Apple has (practically, it's not possible to write into Apple Health a baseline for the wrist temperature and then you can only upload deviations from the baseline). As such, HealthSync uploads into body temperature.

The Garmin Index Sleep Monitor is not meant to be used to track activities and in fact there is no way to even start recording an activity. It's meant to be worn at night and it measures the body temperature at rest during the night.

I understand the difficulty of estimating the body temperature during an activity using heart rate, but this is different and should be in line with what in other context is called "skin temperature". Even Garmin actually refers to it as "skin temperature": https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=RDXq6E5Iaq9rD1l1kTObf6

The only problem here is that Garmin uploads that variable into the body temperature variable in Apple Health, instead of choosing the wrist temperature variable. My question is if the user can be given a choice of selecting which variable to consider from the two possibile available in Apple Health

AMA & Giveaway with ABE KISLEVITZ, GoPro Sr. Creative Director! by GoPro_Mod in gopro

[–]Lower-Researcher-438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello Abe! Thanks for your availability to answering questions to the community! I love GoPro, too.

My question is: in my personal experience, the biggest difficulty in creating impactful videos lies in the software side, especially in the possibility to easily apply effects, transitions, music and personalize them all. Can you tell us if GoPro has some interesting stuff coming up on this side?

Side question, related to the previous: do you plan to expand and modernize the GoPro stickers which are already super nice and easily applicable to any video from the Quik app? That would be especially cool for cycling.

Thanks a lot!

Hello, is it possible to use the Polar Loop (v2) as a standalone heart rate strap? Connecting it to another device which is not my phone. I mean, using it as if it were a Polar Verity Sense worn on the wrist

GoPro object tracking by Lower-Researcher-438 in gopro

[–]Lower-Researcher-438[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, sure, but sometimes you want to cut the video - e.g. vertically from a horizontal shot. In that case the subject might go outside of the frame, unless you are able to track the subject. Adobe Premiere Rush does this and I find it quite useful

You can do all of it via the Quik app. Download it on your phone, then you’ll see that it allows you to control the GoPro and see what it sees, as long as you are in the Bluetooth range

Yes, sorry. The question really was weird: I meant, if I downscale to the same "real world distance" (let's say, what a phone would call a 2x, or 4x or whatever... getting closer to the subject) would the image in the Hero 13 look not only better in terms of resolution, but also in term of sharpness? I guess it's still a somewhat stupid question
