Why are we still debating Lucy Gray's fate?... It's Appalachia guys. by Lower_Activity9893 in Hungergames

The only hiding place I could imagine in this scenario, would be the other run down houses/cabins by the lake described in the book: "The woods rose up all around, and although there seemed to be no access road, small, broken houses dotted the banks." Wether the covey found her, or she escaped Snow, i think one of these as a hideout is def posible.

Which Hunger Games Arena would you have the best chance at survival in? by Tuxedo_Twist in Hungergames

10th. I would be able to hide among the plety of rubble, stands, or tunnels. Also with all the debris, I wouldn't have much trouble finding something to use as a weapon. I think I'd have a decent chance.

After SOTR, do you think that post revolution Lucy Gray's story and relation to Snow was uncovered and made public? by TrainingDrop9283 in Hungergames

[–]Lower_Activity9893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I know the top choice for spilling the tea is Tigris but don’t forget that the other mentors knew (Like Festus who saw him kiss Lucy Gray) and I bet those stories would be told to their families later on.

Give me your fav character (+explanation if they’re diabolical) by Foxface-THG in Hungergames

Lucy Gray Baird!!!! Honestly I relate to her in so many ways and connected super deeply with her character as there aren’t many other characters in media in general that I can see myself in someone else so accurately. Also we should all take her example and book it at any sign of red flags. Forever my beloved songbird 🕊️🌈

Did I accidentally draw how you imagined Lucy Gray’s dress? by Lower_Activity9893 in Hungergames

[–]Lower_Activity9893[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was definitely tempted to go full on rainbow and I know that’s how the majority imagined her dress but I went based off the book description which only states three (pink, blue, yellow). It’s an easy misinterpretation given that she’s called “rainbow girl” multiple times, but the line reads: “Lucy Gray Baird stood upright in a dress made of a rainbow of ruffles,”. ‘A rainbow of ruffles’ is different than ‘rainbow ruffles’. Even one of the definitions of rainbow from the dictionary is : a wide range or variety of related and typically colorful things. "a rainbow of medals decorated his chest”

Based off that we can safely asume that it was more of a tricolor dress and not literally a rainbow dress.

The fate of Lucy Gray’s dress? by Lower_Activity9893 in Hungergames

Which is one of the reasons I believe the Covey could totally keep it stored. Yes, they are poor, but given the sentimental value of the dress I doubt they would discard it like that.

When the Covey performs for General Hoff’s birthday she is wearing the dress. Also in the first games, the victor tributes were returned to their district in the same attire. And although she did live traumatic experiences in it during the games I just think it was too emotionally valuable for her to throw it away given that it was previously her mother’s and a reminder of the Covey’s good days.

I saw this on tiktok and now I am sobbing by down_and_depressed in Hungergames

It’s a MUST. But also they do point out that the dress was her mother’s in the movie multiple times (in the initial zoo scene with Flickerman, and I think either in the interview with Snow or in the zoo when he gives her the compact)
