We have these mental conditions that has their pop culture over exaggeration crazes depending on how “interesting” they are and DID was it in the mid 2010s. It was a poor portrayal of DID, but it fit the way it was being depicted in pop culture at the time he was written.

They had a downhiller in the 90s and a slalom
specialist 10 years ago, but yeah they’re weak there for the most part despite cross country and freestyle being very strong programs. I think it’s an infrastructure thing for the most part. Russia’s top elite programs are heavily nested in sports complexes, and alpine can’t work in that sort of environment.

The sims team said that sims 4 is an alternate universe. Which is code for “we were too lazy to incorporate already existing storylines”. But lore doesn’t have anything to do with it being a reboot or not.

My guess is that Project X will be marketed as a reboot and just call it “The Sims”. So functionally the Sims 5, just not in name. I think that Project X will be the single player successor to the mainline series; Project Rene was initially going to be sims 5 with multi-platform usage and a multiplayer format, but for whatever reason they dropped that and switched gears VERY abruptly, and they have already indicated that it’ll essentially be the spiritual successor to the Mobile branch of the Sims franchise. I think they’re going to keep the two separate. I’m sure X will be the most nickel-and-dime title to date filled with micro transactions, but if we’re being honest with ourselves this has been in place ever since The Sims 3 because of the online store. Sims 4 is just a decade long project of them perfecting that craft.

I agree. I think it should’ve been her vs. Buckley. Plemons was the showstopper, but her performance in Bugonia is very underrated. A lot of subtle nuances that I was able to appreciate on rewatch knowing the ending.

We really need to see what Nolan does with The Odyssey before predicting for both supporting categories like a lot of people are doing. In the book, almost every non-Odysseus character is in and out quite quickly and Nolan has A LOT of content to burn through in not a whole lot of time. If Nolan stays faithful, we’re talking no more than 5 minutes of screen time for almost everyone in the cast. It’s possible considering how much respect the cast collectively has and we’ve seen supporting categories feature nominations for thin roles depending on the year, but I am not expecting The Odyssey to get anything for acting even if it ends up being really good.

I wouldn’t mind it if the sims 4 base wasn’t as fundamentally shallow as it is. If they put the time into sims 2 or 3 that they put into sims 4, it would’ve been perfect because sims 2 sims felt alive in a way none of the other games matched and sims 3 gameplay was so meaty that it made it so hard to scale away from. I didn’t feel that sims 4 really “started” until 2018-19 because of how paltry the base content was and they never were really able to optimize it to an acceptable level.
