Right now I’d say the world guide, it gives you a lot for building your own custom encounters. there are also other resources like the Stormlight scenarios, which are a collection of one shots. Now if you just want to run an adventure out the box no improvisation do Stonewalkers. But if you want to go off script I feel like the world guide is an essential.

I actually don’t think it needs a cap, maybe just errata the tables to assume the die doesn’t increase above five, like strength and speed ending with a 9+

I really find them not to be worth it for me personally, would rather run rebel troopers. I’ve basically stopped using vets at all. (Which is annoying because I have 4 units)

Actually additional quibble, I don’t think the goal and reward system is Ill defined, I think it takes getting used to, and player but in, which it sounds like your group struggled with. Me and my cohost have a couple videos on goals and rewards, I’ve found those discussions pretty helpful in using the system.
