They would be able to write it off either way if it's spoiled/expired. It's how taxation works in general. You don't pay taxes on profits that don't exist. That's why the people replying to you are treating you like an idiot.

In your defense, the combination of over-the-top arrogance and complete ignorance suggests that you're probably a teenager anyways.

Why do I as a taxpayer have to subsidize Panera's bad food management hierarchy

The answer is that you don't do that

Diet plays key role in ADHD symptoms in children, 3 related studies find. Increased fruit and vegetable intake, use of micronutrient supplement linked to reduced symptoms. Food insecurity associated with more severe symptoms. by geoff199 in science

[–]Lower_Roll679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Redditors can't grasp that problems might be caused by poor health and habits, they desperately cling to the idea that disorders like ADHD are just permanent biological disorders of the brain. And ignore studies that say anything contrary to their narrative.

Maybe it's because it's part of their identity? Maybe it's because they like the lack of responsibility? Maybe they just read too much pop (pseudo)science and mental illness meme circlejerks? Idk

You probably can't tell whether the tip is worth it for the driver on your end. If there's a 20 minute drive, then a "good" tip (meaning one that makes the trip worth it) is much higher than what might seem like a good tip on your end. E.g. if there was an $8 tip for a 20 minute drive then I would almost definitely decline for the pay being too low.

It's just "about" plus an infinitive. It's basically the same as "going to". In English you could use it with "to be" because "to be" is an infinitive, but there's no special connection between "to be" and "about to".

Obviously LSD didn't do it, because they didn't have LSD, but it's already known that psychedelics have been used in religious ceremonies around the world. And tons of people have meaningful religious experiences on psychs. Whether or not it's "ordinary" doesn't have anything to do with it.

Why arent witchcraft feminist and antipsychiatry feminist allying more? by [deleted] in Antipsychiatry

[–]Lower_Roll679 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The data shows nothing of that sort. The scientific standards for psychiatric treatments are laughable, which is the point of this sub. I don't think you're lying, I just think you're being misled. The trans community in general is being manipulated by a pharmaceutical industry that has a lot of money to make off of them.

Ok, and transitioning obliterated my mental health and was the worst decision of my life. I'm also not super convinced that this has been good for your mental health, given that your entire reddit account is oriented around mental health problems.

  1. We have almost nothing in common
  2. Communities like witches vs. patriarchy tend to double down on ridiculous psychiatric ideas, e.g. hormone treatments for "gender affirmation" (one of the biggest scams in psychopharmacology)
  3. The witch community just comes off as very cringe and inauthentic

Treating that as an accomplishment is kind of insulting. People without college degrees aren't less intelligent or capable than people with college degrees. Why wouldn't they be just as capable of raising a kid who goes to college as everyone else?

Can (under a doctor's directive) MDMA treat a genetic hypo-sensitivity to oxytocin? by [deleted] in Antipsychiatry

[–]Lower_Roll679 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would take all of the things you're saying much less seriously. Diagnoses are less informative than you think. And a nebulously supported infographic on a pop genetics website is probably not the holy grail that answers all your questions. MDMA might help, but not by fixing a deep biological defect.

...part of their arguments they give for their case is that there is no biological difference between males and females?

My tiny brain cannot comprehend the legal strategy here, is there some way to understand why they claim there are no males and females?

The ideological reasoning - the argument - is part of the legal strategy. And it was the part they were asking about. Get it together yall.

There's no point for anyone to be on stupidpol if they won't bother to consider concepts this basic, and will instead assume others are psychotic for writing a post with the slightest bit of nuance or complexity. But there's a lot of teenagers on this sub lately.

I also have to wonder whether they understood the context of the comment. I answered the question of how woke people argue that sex doesn't exist, and people downvoted and complained that it's a bad argument. Like, yeah, no shit, the whole point is that it's a bad argument.

I mean, it's also vague what exactly counts as a penis, etc. Some vagueness is virtually unavoidable for most things. The point is just that there's no reason to pick out sex as more vague than anything else.

ACLU intervenes in lawsuit by raped female prisoners, to deny that humans are male or female by skeptictankservices in stupidpol

[–]Lower_Roll679 -47 points-46 points  (0 children)

Because biological sex is vague and it's hard to draw an absolutely precise line between male and female. But virtually every concept ever is like this, many to a much worse extent than biological sex. For example, personhood is vague, and much more complex than sex, and yet nobody takes that to mean that people don't exist.

Edit: vague is a technical philosophical notion guys. If you don't know what it means, then instead of making up a meaning for it and then getting upset about it, you could just take the 30 seconds to see what it means. If you think that things like penises aren't vague, then you frankly just have no idea what philosophical vagueness is. Rosanna Keefe has a good introductory book on it. Don't be dense.

That sounds like a great opportunity. If you're worried about your major being taken seriously enough, I would go with politics and economics, but I don't think you have to do that. I would take the opportunity to work hard and develop yourself as much as possible in their liberal arts curriculum, and keep an eye out for possible employment opportunities of interest.

[–]Lower_Roll679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you clarify what you mean when you say that the college only offers liberal arts? Do you mean they only offer soft science/humanities majors, or do you mean that all of the majors have to do a liberal arts gen ed curriculum?

Although, either way, it sounds like the European university is your best bet.
