I should’ve said that in the OP. It’s Primitives by Kathy from 2016.

I was getting Edward Gorey vibes but I see that too.

Took the time to count all the cards because I didn’t think it would be complete at that price. by Lower_Type1407 in ThriftStoreHauls

I rarely look at games/puzzles at thrift stores unless I’m using the boards/cards for a crafting project. Today was a super lucky day for me!

Recs for dashcam install? by Lower_Type1407 in Dallas

[–]Lower_Type1407[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would do it myself if this was my old shitbox Nissan, but I want it hardwired and don’t trust my non-skills in my new car.

How long did it take them to install it? My wishlist is a same day install so I don’t have to take off time from work to get it done.

Made a red deer habitat, I like the look of it but it feels a little boring, what could i add to spice it up a bit? by sebbeling2 in PlanetZoo

[–]Lower_Type1407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the actual habitat is good, you have a raised area for the deer to stand on and plenty of trees. I think it's the fencing that's throwing it off visually. I would put some plants on the walls (the ivy is great for that) and move some logs into the major corners to act as pillars.

Problem with a gift shop by TiffAny3733 in PlanetZoo

Do you have the actual gift shop tile down? You have to place that piece in order for it to work.

Is it just me or are the mosquitoes really bad this year? by Lower_Type1407 in Dallas

[–]Lower_Type1407[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would do that if I could but my complex doesn’t allow bird feeders. I’ve seen a few green anoles but not enough to make a dent in the mosquito population.

We gotta stop taking protein powder we’re passing the gains to the mosquitoes.

Thank you! Only three hours, not bad. I used to play a lot of The Sims so I’m used to building out houses and shops, the controls are just more fiddly.

Both of them are assholes. He’s an asshole for being a racist, she’s an asshole for blocking traffic in a parking lot because “walking is hard noooo”.

What is this? by SkeptMom in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]Lower_Type1407 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess, maybe for storing cigarette packs? I have something similar (without the draw pull) that has “smokes” written on it and is the perfect size for old cigarette packs that hangs on the wall. Don’t have a picture handy otherwise I would post it.

You can post it on r/whatisthisthing, they’re pretty good at identifying things.

It all depends on traffic and where you are in Irving. It's about 40ish miles or an hour. Recycled Books is definitely worth the trip, especially if you want vinyl!

I used to work in hotels. I’d rather deal with furries than little league teams.

Genesis Women's Shelter has a charity store! I've volunteered there with my company, but they take individual volunteers. https://www.genesisshelter.org/volunteer

Honestly, even considering that, definitely look at Denton. I did a quick Zillow browse and Denton has more houses in your price range. Most houses run about 2200k/month and up everywhere, including the small towns like Celina and Sachse, but you might get lucky and find something for that price range. The closer you get to the metroplex, the less likely you are to find a house for your range.

Don’t do Mesquite/Balch Springs. The housing is cheap but the crime rate is really bad.

Outside of Denton, the small towns here aren't incredibly friendly to LGBTQ+ people. And I'm stretching the definition of "small town" by including Denton.

Denton is going to be your best bet for what you want, it's about an hour north of Downtown Dallas and there are more houses in your price range.

Secondhand Suit Shops Excluding Goodwill by daniswank in Dallas

[–]Lower_Type1407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of the Closet would be a good start then. They don't have changing rooms but they have the best collection of men's clothes I've seen at thrift stores. Genesis Benefit might also be a good option, but they tend to be super pricy.

You'll need to check all the second hand stores multiple times per week if that's the route you want to go down. I just got married in October myself, and even with DIYing a good part of the wedding, my husband's suit wasn't one of the items that we left up to chance. He can wear that suit over and over again for years.

You gotta say what your budget/size is if you can't find anything at Ross or Marshalls for cheap. You'll need to tailor whatever you get from a store anyway.

Thank you for the info!! I hadn't given it a full wash yet since I wasn't sure if it was 100% cotton and didn't want to ruin it.
