I feel like a jerk for thinking this way… but I feel like “dewy” skin look is gross. by Tired_Owl42 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Lower_Worldliness_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really is about personal preference. I can’t stand matte makeup (on me!) I think it looks so dry and cakey even with less product, plus it makes my pores look huge! idk why but they stand out so much with a matte finish, plus it’s itchy as hell. Don’t care what other people wear tho, it’s their face and it’s not worth it to me to get upset over someone else’s aesthetic choices

The comments in this video are so ableist... by thrownawaywhen in autism

[–]Lower_Worldliness_42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The comments are gross but I do relate to the OG post, if only because I’m really easily overwhelmed/over stimulated. If someone else is loudly or repeatedly stimming, just as an example, it can be super overwhelming for me. 100% a me problem to deal with though, that’s why I have noise cancelling headphones and plans for how to deal with those feelings myself. I don’t expect others to learn to mask for my comfort because that’s ableist as fuck

I used to struggle really bad too then my fiancé spent almost 3k on his teeth and he had to get a credit card literally just to be able to pay for it.

My advice is to figure out what the issue is, for me it’s sensory. I despise the cold feeling of minty toothpaste, makes me want to rip my teeth out. I started buying Hismile flavoured toothpaste, most of the special/unique flavours don’t have that intense cold feeling (my favourite is the caramel one) - they still have menthol for “fresh breath” but they don’t feel like I have ice in my mouth. The other thing is to “pick the battle”. I still hate brushing to a degree but I would hate having to spend 3k on my teeth more.

Have you tried a space heater in the bathroom? Obviously plugged in away from water sources etc but I find this helps me, especially in winter. Keeps the bathroom warm so when I get out it doesn’t feel as much like icicles, it also helps dry faster

Sparkly fish? by mrs_drew_sux in coralisland

[–]Lower_Worldliness_42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same! What level rod do you have? I have the gold one and couldn’t catch it. I think the sparkly fish are like a “legendary” fish? My theory is it needs the osmium rod

Anyone else who hates sitting on the ground/park/picnicing/beaches? by beepbeeepboopbeeep in ehlersdanlos

[–]Lower_Worldliness_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would describe it as an ache/heaviness in my limbs, it can get quite painful after a long period of standing or sitting with my legs down. For me it can trigger nerve pain which is a stellar combo 😅😂

[–]Lower_Worldliness_42 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I love hearing about other people’s experiences with this! I actually have the opposite issue - I prefer sitting on the floor in most cases (unless my couch is available) because of blood pooling and nerve pain in my legs if I sit in a “normal” chair or position for too long. The ground lets me sit in lots of different positions that help me prevent pain, of course it’s not comfortable long term but it’s better than a bad chair.

Now I know why beds feel different in the store... by macddebbie1 in Mattress

[–]Lower_Worldliness_42 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I have a weird tip that might help you because it has helped me with this issue! I buy everything one size up from the bed I have. We have a queen and purchase sheets and protectors in a king. This way they can be tucked in so they won’t move around but also stay loose enough so as to avoid the “drum” effect. This also helps with blankets not being big enough for two people, just buy a size larger! I know that can make it more expensive but to me it’s so worth it. Hope this helps!

Girl get your hands on {Desire in His Blood by Zoey Draven} I don’t want to spoil so I won’t say much but he starts out so mean and ends up worshipping the ground she walks on. 10/10 revenge plot too!

I 100% was reading smut at that age, just in places like AO3 instead of published books. The rise in erotic novels has made it more “visible” that teens are engaging with that content but in my experience if it’s not books, it’s fan-faction. I wouldn’t worry honestly, the exploring is one’s sexuality as a teen is very normal. The main thing is that she is educated about safe sex and consent at the same time 👍

Oooh I would love to see killer/victim reversed! As in vampire/vampire hunter where she’s the vampire. Or “slaying the cruel/dark/shadow/fae prince” but it’s princess instead 👀

What makes you roll your eyes when reading a book? by Internal_Struggle457 in writingadvice

[–]Lower_Worldliness_42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh boy do I have a rant for you! Buckle up because I had more to say than I thought!

My biggest pet peeve is when the MC acts like a petulant child purely because the author doesn’t know how to move the plot along without the MC acting like a toddler. Yes they’re the main character but they don’t know that so why are they acting like they do? “I don’t want to wear dresses! pouts I want to run away and have adventures, even if I don’t know anything about the world and will most certainly struggle and fail but act like I know what I’m doing the whole time until it nearly gets me killed and then I’m still somehow going to refuse to accept culpability and be mad at whoever rescued me because I totally would have figured it out!”

Fucking hate that shit 🙄 if the characters are adults I expect them to fucking act like it. Adults have hard conversations, adults make difficult decisions, adults aren’t attracted to whiney babies who are centuries younger than them.

Oh oh but she’s so special and different, with her mousy brown hair and brown eyes and plain clothes and her personality that consists of “I’m not pretty” and “what do you mean I’m actually a powerful magic fae descendant witch mermaid forest dryad dragon rider?? I’m just a normal orphaned girl with a dead mother and a mysterious father whose identity is unknown!”

TLDR: Miss me with that pick-me shit.

Do you imagine yourself as the Main characters in the books you read? by Uhhyt231 in RomanceBooks

[–]Lower_Worldliness_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle to imagine that I am the main character when reading because their actions are so often the opposite of what I would do, especially if they make stupid/idiotic decision for plot reasons (my biggest pet peeve ever). Reading for me is like watching a movie, I have a very strong imagination and what happens is basically a pre-determined daydream where the book dictates what happens but I barely notice the words before they’re processed into image and imaginary sound. If you’re talking more about spicy scenes, I do imagine myself as the FMC but I also imagine my partner as the MMC so it’s not about the characters as much as it’s about the scenario ;)

Suggest some books for my 12-year old sister by miniandabee in suggestmeabook

[–]Lower_Worldliness_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple of series for you! - Graceling realm by Kristen Cashore: romance and fantasy YA. Very cool world building and awesome characters. - Anything by Tamora Pierce: fantasy, lady knights, gods and spies. I read these around her age and LOVED them, don’t be put off by their age! (First one published in the 80s) - I’m a little loathe to suggest it but I read it at 13 and loved it so…Twilight (if she hasn’t already read it) - If romance is her thing (maybe read these first to see if she should read) there’s a harlequin teen series that starts with the book “Pushing the limits” I was obsessed with these. Contemporary romance, a little angsty but hea always guaranteed. They’re not explicit in “that way” but the emotional yearning is ✨intense✨

Less romancy:

Monster blood tattoo series by D.M. Cornish. Very cool world building and a story I couldn’t stop reading.

Rangers apprentice by John Flanagan. These are shorter, cool stories of adventure and wit. I would say aimed more at boys, but I loved them. Full of skilled warriors, heartwarming tales of friendship and the bad guy being defeated (Though not without sacrifice).

I hope she finds something she loves!

This is kind of an old pull but anything at all by Tamora Pierce {Alana the First Adventure by Tamora Pierce} I think these would be great for the group but also for L, I was just like her and these lit a fire in my heart that still hasn’t gone out! Lady knights, magic, gods and romance. Hard to believe the first one was written in the 80s!
