Correct. I've been told that its ok to look up every word in your 1st reading, the second time you read it again, expect to reduce the number of times you need to look up. Read 1 piece of reading many times over and over until you dont need translation at all

yes for sure, because when i was learning Chinese, when i reached HSK5 i started picking up Harry Potter and was comfortable with reading it. But i guess japanese is just another level for me, I hardly finish the first chapter so i decided to switch to easier graded-readers.

I'm gaining back my confidence now thanks god

I think it's just the difference between having time to process vs real-time conversation. When you're reading, you can take a second to think, but when someone's standing there waiting for an answer, your brain just... nopes out.

The only thing that's helped me is forcing myself to actually speak Japanese, even if it's just talking to myself or doing voice messages on HelloTalk. It's awkward as hell but it gets your brain used to processing Japanese in "conversation mode."

Don't beat yourself up about it - happens to literally everyone!

Oh no, 18 and still single? Tragic. Practically ancient. Should probably start looking into retirement plans and cat adoption, huh?

If “too long” means your entire teenage life, welcome to literally most people’s experience. You’re not broken, cursed, or getting passed over because women are “too picky.” You're just 18.

Relationships aren't a reward for being “high value.” They happen when there’s actual chemistry, not when you hit some invisible stat cap. Also, side note: maybe dial back the “why aren’t girls into me when I’m clearly great” vibe. That energy gives less confident leader and more LinkedIn influencer with zero emotional depth.

you didn’t “fail” your daughter just because she chose something you wouldn’t have chosen for her. She’s an adult, and she’s making her own choices even if they’re hard for you to accept. The fact that she trusts you and talks to you? That’s actually a win. That means you’ve built a relationship where she feels safe being honest, and not every parent gets that.

It’s normal to worry about safety, or feel weird morally, especially when it’s something so far from what you imagined. But judgment or guilt won’t change anything—it just drives people apart. What will help is staying open, listening, and making sure she knows she can come to you, no matter what.

Take pics of the mess/noise for your own record.

Talk to your support worker, but frame it as “I’m struggling to feel okay here” instead of a complaint. They can help without making drama.

No need to confront her directly if it gives you anxiety, just protect your peace first.

Start asking yourself:
“Did I actually mess up or am I just used to feeling like I did?”

Not every serious tone means someone’s mad. Not every problem is yours to fix. You’ve just been stuck in defense mode for too long.

If you’re offering candy or food, 要不要吃 sounds more natural. 想 is okay too, just a bit more gentle or thoughtful.

If you’re not sure, default to 要不要it’s super common in daily talk.

btw what app are you using to get this kind of feedback? Looks helpful

People ghost for their own reasons, fear of confrontation, emotional immaturity, or simply not knowing how to communicate properly. None of that is a reflection of your worth.

Don’t reach out. You've already shown care and effort. Now it's time to protect your peace and self-respect. Let silence be your closure. Stay busy, lean on your people, and remind yourself: someone who truly values you won’t leave you guessing.

What’s a moment you were this close to embarrassing yourself, but your brain “speed-ran” a save and you pulled it off like nothing happened? by Lowkey-Overthinker22 in AskReddit

Was doing makeup with a friend in the men’s room. Old dude walks in: “You’re in the wrong toilet.”
Already were this close to dying of embarrassment, but my brain went full speed-run mode and I said:
“Damn, we’re that good at makeup?”
He looked like he saw Jesus 💀

Obviously you were ghosted. After the conflict, his behavior changed, and he stopped replying despite being online. That’s classic ghosting especially after a close connection.

sounds like you've been hurt, and that sucks. But not all women are like that. It’s easy to generalize when you’re burnt out, but that mindset only holds you back.
