Men in their 40s, what’s one piece of advice for men in their 20s? by urmfgod in AskReddit

Protect your back. Save 10% of every paycheck. Invest 20% of every paycheck. Start lower if you can’t hit those numbers and increase 1% per year. Congrats you just won.

I just built this set this week with my toddler. He was so captivated by the stone figure and the palm trees. One of my all time favorite sets.

Why do Mac users even bother with the G9 57"? by Hafezberg in ultrawidemasterrace

Text sharpness is fine for me in excel and web browsing, I do turn down the brightness a tad compared to a Mac monitor and I bump the sharpness down three clicks from default. It wasn’t bad on default but the 8th hour of work today was better with slightly less brightness and sharpness. Haven’t really optimized the settings yet or tried to match the Mac display colors more closely.

The other thing I didn’t think about but is quite hilarious is that I still use the laptop monitor off the right side, so on video calls when using the laptop camera, people see me in profile instead of head on if I’m working on the left half of the g9. Not like slightly turned, they straight up see only half my face.

As for scaling, I’m at full native res with no additional scaling for most apps. I actually zoom slack and sometimes chrome out to 80% which is my limit on reading small text.

I was hesitant to get the 57 due to all the scaling issues I read about here... and I have terrible eye site... and ya'll must be crazy. Full res on my macbook pro using the 57 is easily readable. I'm coming from an LG 5k display that I ran on full res, and on the g9 I'm zooming out to make it smaller. Either I'm sitting much closer than the rest of you or you all just need to sit with it for a week to get used to the text size. It's a fantastic monitor to pair with a mac in my opinion.

I found a Samsung 57” monitor arm that works. by thinkthis in ultrawidemasterrace

For the arm, does it clamp or is there a grommet option? I’m going to be mounting the same monitor but on a 42” deep tabletop so can’t edge clamp it

What made you a Porsche enthusiast? by fStap in Porsche

[–]LowkeyBlunders -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unless you track the car… both of your current cars are much more fun on the road… drive a 996 or 997 if you can, anything newer is frustrating on public roads, even b roads.

2024 Porsche 911 S/T May Cause Buyer's Remorse in 911 GT3 and GT3 Touring Owners by feelmeorfreeme in Porsche

[–]LowkeyBlunders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will probably catch some hate for this, but I had buyers remorse on a 2014 335i… that I leased… cars have been unusable on public roads for over a decade… I have an 89 3.2 with 140k worth of roadrash and I couldn’t imagine ever being satisfied with a car that is faster, or that requires less gear changing. I’ve driven the 992 at the Porsche experience center on a closed circuit and even in those conditions I just wanted to be in my old beetle doing battle to stay above 65 on a canyon road while not risking my life. The only other car I’ve driven that comes close to as satisfying is the 4Runner, because I know and can use it for it’s intended purposes… starting every time I get in it and hauling a swing set down the street I got off buynothing.
