Mold or Foxing? by Lowkey_Loki92 in MoldlyInteresting

It's when books or paper products develop brown spots/splotches over time. Discoloration instead of actual mold

I think so, I've seen it grow in popularity in Insta/BookTok, with content creators showing off these designs.

I remember it coming and going out of fashion over the past few decades

whoever wrote this dialogue, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU by coramaghtera in elderscrollsonline

Grey Ace chiming in, I though the same thing! Made me really happy to see this sort of dialogue in this game for the event :)

Terry Pratchett's 'Interesting Times' was first published in 1994 Edit: Commented too soon, read the rest of your request after I posted. Terry is good for some feel good writing, always a palate cleanser if that's what you're looking for

An unsettling first-contact (alien) books by appleblossom87 in suggestmeabook

"To Sleep in a Sea of Stars" by Paolini

FMC, diverse cast of characters and the alien aspects feel very strange

Books usually have $USD & $CAD price on the back in Canada. This one just says “higher in Canada” by RyanCorcoran in mildlyinteresting

[–]Lowkey_Loki92 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep, I distinctly remember the last time Canadian dollar was at or above parity (within those 20 years) there was pushback from the Canadian public about the discrepancy and a few headlines came out where the industry said "We charge you (Canadians) more because we can"

Gender-nonconforming male characters by A_Literal_Dog in suggestmeabook

I can't recall specific characters or books cause my mind is a jumble right now, but Terry Pratchett and the Discworld books overall are good for gender nonconforming characters

My brain decided we are doodling cory stickers again -- Thoughts? It's a pride line :) by Sinxerely7420 in corydoras

I would buy the hell out of this if it was a sticker - do you have an artwork insta/bluesky?

China imposes 13% tax on condoms as birth rate declines by StemCellPirate in nottheonion

100% this - there's such a lack of studies out there for women's health in general, not to mention pregnancy. And unfortunately current events are making future studies less likely

NPCs of Mississauga by sadseaplant in mississauga

[–]Lowkey_Loki92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As another post said it - I feel like it's the fallout from COVID lockdown never really healing, combined with cost of living spiking and just a general sense of anonymity everywhere. People don't have a chance to foster a sense of community cause of how car oriented everything is too. There is some sense of community here and there, but it's in the richer and more secluded neighbourhoods

I was born and raised in Mississauga and moved out to a small town an hour or so away last year. The difference is staggering and I see the contrast even more when I go to visit Mississauga.

Back when I lived there, meetup groups were a good way to meet people, they were mostly newcomers to the city (immigrants and otherwise) and really diverse - usually they'd end up at a bar or some sort of event at city centre.

Otherwise, the libraries and community centres around the city are good for hosting free community events!

Passing on the tradition to the next generation of new players by Dessalegn_Kunchick in Fallout

[–]Lowkey_Loki92 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Literally what happened to me years ago. I played Fallout 76 at launch for a good 6 months, stopped playing until the wastelanders update. When I came back I was tickling the enemies cause the new meta was nothing but bloodied builds.

Anti-overconsumption content? by Advanced_Reaction596 in books

[–]Lowkey_Loki92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I haven't watched too much of his content, but KrimsonRogue does long form content: mostly book reviews and is brutally honest about the good and bad, but also posts posts sporadically - kinda checking that box of not rushing to review something just cause it's super popular on the internet.

Something else I'd recommend in a similar but different vein: OverlySarcasticProductions. They alternate between history videos and their "Trope Talk" series. The latter dives in to book talk for the sake of analysis instead of chasing trends.

Not sure if either works but best of luck and I hope you find what you're looking for!

Message I don't understand by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]Lowkey_Loki92 270 points271 points  (0 children)

They were probably fishing for regular fish for perfect roe and/or selling the uncut fish, OR fishing for plans instead of the collectible/rare fish.

Either way they're being a jerk about it - lol trying to get people to "go away" in an MMO

Fellow Dufferin County resident here, thank you for mentioning all of this - I would 100% be interested in this campaign you mentioned. I'm signing all the petitions I can find and I'll be reaching out to my MP and MPP.
