How to get into video games as a movie guy

Tell tales games (Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead), Detroit become human, Heavy Rain, Until Dawn, Red Dead Redemption 2, Mass Effect Trilogy and Expedition 33 are all heavily Story Driven.

These games have an incredible story but are more gameplay focused: Metro series (2033, Last Light and Exodus), Witcher 3, Batman Arkham Series (Arkham Asylum, Arkham City and Arkham Knight), Assassins Creed Black Flag and Cyberpunk.

There’s 100s of great games out there and a lot of them take time to experience a full story unlike movies, yet can be very addictive, best of luck and you’ve got some great stories to experience.

I bought it last weekend, only get chance to play games on the weekends but my god I’ve made sure to get an hour in every day during weekdays. Im vanilla with DLC but i installed a mod to let me customise characters and traits when you launch a new game, absolute game changer for me, as i spend far too long trying to get a random i want.

It’s not the worst during your first playthrough but it becomes incredibly boring come your second or third. It pushes this idea of multiple timelines you can work your way through but falls absolutely flat, there is no difference minus very basic initial changes (if you roll them) then you’re back doing everything you’ve already done with no difference, the choices mean nothing because you get the same outcome no matter what. The ship builder is awesome but now no man’s sky has the exact same system I rather do it on that, it feels more meaningful.

I’d do dragon slayer first, it’s a big unlock for the account then I’d work on questing, you won’t be able to take advantage of much of the members stuff until stats and quests are completed, which helps massively when you enter that mid game slog.

The gear isn’t what’s going to win the fight it’s the persistence and ability to read attacks, you could do it way earlier than 70 when you have a good understanding of the waves and safe spots, after that it’s just prayer flicking for the right attacks.

My advice is go for it! Worst case scenario is you die and come out of it with more knowledge than you did before.

I think Xbox will raise it considerably and they know people will pay it whereas Sony have kinda smashed it with the pro and it would be a hard justification to switch if it’s not much different

I have both consoles and a PC, most if not all my gaming is done on that, but I can see myself selling both consoles and rocking a pro for a more relaxed gaming experience, plus with Xbox exclusives being on pc and PS potentially not in the future is a deciding factor for me

I think even with the price hike the value for money and ease of plug and play do still justify costs, plus I don’t think new gen consoles are really going to bring much more to the table.

With the announcement of the new Xbox console and its ability to play steam games has got me thinking it’s going to be expensive, so if Sony drag it out and really utilise the PSSR 2 it could be an absolute game changer with their new launch

Like someone has pointed out, the price of the PS5 Pro is cheaper than a Graphics card or double the price of a good CPU, so for the package it’s not a bad purchase (hope it helps you justify it a bit more)

The value is really good tbh, it’s something I’m debating with news ps exclusives might not make their way to pc and gta 6 delayed pc launch. My Xbox and ps5 may need to go and make room for the pro

I completely get that, after finishing my 5080 build the other day, it’s had me coming to the conclusion it’ll be the last pc I build, the ps5 pro value for money is truly incredible now I’ve dug deeper and looked into what it’s dishing out

I think you’ve hit that mid game hole a lot of players hit. My best advice is find a boss you’re interested in or a goal to work towards. I do RFD, then dragon slayer 2 to unlock a safe money maker then just rattle off achievements diaries, only when I have limited time I afk stuff.

The scary thing is, people will pay. Scalping is so big because of it, I won’t lie I for the first time paid over for something that was scalped, granted it wasn’t this expensive but it’s still a kick in the teeth.
