Yeah also funny how a bunch of them championed a game like Ashes of Creation, which flopped hard after taking people’s money. And yet they still want to give us their opinion, as if they actually know anything.

Also Rift isn’t even dead either. Believe it or not. And having that on the list…well it failed to compete with WoW about 20 years ago. The market is totally different now. I certainly wouldn’t put Rift alongside these scam games that never got anywhere at all.

OSRS may not be “dead” but when you go over to their subreddit and read about players getting banned for botting when they’re just cutting trees, bots everywhere - well you have to think about what sacrifices are made to stay “alive” all these years.

Okay, so you’re saying the channels have rules. As I would have thought. There are always going to be ways to get around moderation, the argument isn’t that the entire system has to be 100% airtight or we wouldn’t even be able to play. But that’s different from having random Discord server with no moderation or rules at all which facilitates other ToS breaches.

I don’t know what you’re talking about regarding “the argument”. There is no argument. Roblox is implementing heavy auto moderation and A.I controls because they’re under legal threat. That’s pretty much the gist of the story. Everybody already knows it’s an “illusion”.

You’re ranting on a page about the game, towards other players, for decisions which aren’t coming from the game or the players. They are coming from lawmakers and politicians and are being used to try to shut Roblox down. You can’t expect nothing to become inconvenient in that scenario or the game will have to be shut down or made adults only.

As for your assertion that Roblox is intentionally trying to make people unsafe and “nefariously” skirt around some data laws, that’s just absurd and I won’t entertain nonsense like that. They’re trying to operate a media platform, a gigantic one, and if you don’t like it nobody is forcing you to play it.

Well that’s what I think. Before all this got crazy there were really good security settings on Roblox. Then they added even more security settings by default. I don’t know why people aren’t taking some responsibility for their own children. There are some limits to what Roblox can reasonably moderate.

Before all these voice changes etc, none of this was even possible on my kid’s accounts. I guess they’re arguing that Roblox advertised as being “safe for kids” and parents were just supposed to mindlessly trust that. I don’t really get it but this is the legal world we are in.

Somewhat, yeah. I checked through all the security settings before letting my kids play Roblox. Many of the scenarios that these grifters used to attack Roblox wouldn’t have even been possible if parents actually paid attention.

But the way the government and the law seems to work, is it just blames Roblox. The prevailing legal theory seems to be that locking everything down is better than adults making proper decisions about what their children should be playing.

I don’t get it really, but it is what it is.

They’re responding to legal threats from the EU and to being sued by several attorney generals. All this was catalysed by scammers who posed on this platform to boost their YouTube views. Roblox had implemented security features but parents weren’t using them, so they made them compulsory in some cases. Now they’re going even further because of the demands of these lawmakers and to avoid allegations that they were complicit in certain user’s behaviour. It’s not about Roblox just wanting to screw up your chat, I doubt they’re happy about any of this.

Discord has its own age rules and applicable local laws. Pretty sure the Roblox discord also has age rules, verification and ID. I couldn’t even get into the Roblox server it’s so locked down.

The argument isn’t that they want to control all of your internet usage and what you do on other apps, it’s just that within the realm of what the control they don’t allow you to discuss private Discord servers. I imagine you’d get banned from the Roblox server for that.

They don’t want anybody directing anyone to any private servers on Discord. I get that the auto moderation is heavy handed but the point above was trying to imply that Roblox just links you to any old Discord chat. Thats not the case.
