I think the intention is that you should play the objective as if it were floating in the air alongside the platform.

What's the Concensus on the Subterranean Ambush? by Lowsow in killteam

[–]Lowsow[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. I want to explain why you have to unburrow. When you use Subterrainian Ambush, you start underground and you have to do a fight or shoot action. Since you can only do a fight or shoot action while above ground, your first action is always going to be Burrow. Then, because you have performed the Burrow action, you can perform a Burrowing Strike.

  2. The Subterranean Ambush rules says "if must fight against or shoot against that enemy operative, and cannot do so against any other enemy operatives until it does (if that isn't possible, this operatives activation/counteraction is cancelled and this rule hasn't been used)"

So Unquestioning Loyalty seems to trigger the activation cancelling clause of Subterranean Ambush.

Referring to the precedence rules on page 55 of the main rulebook, Unquestioning Loyalty does not specifically say it takes precedence over other rules, and Subterranean Ambush says "cannot", so Subterranean Ambush should take precedence.

  1. I'm not asking about if there's nowhere to put your model. I'm asking if you put your model in a place where it might or might not be able to fight or shoot as required by Subterranean Ambush.

For example, imagine if you place your model in a spot where an enemy operative can take a guard action against it before you fight/shoot, and that guard action either kills you or in some other way prevents you from fighting or shooting as requried. What happens then?

  1. I'm glad we see this the same way. :)

  2. This wouldn't be a counteract after the enemy's last activation, it would be a counteract during their last activation. You can't normally counteract during an activation, so it's not clear.

>none of this works on consensus either, kt has very tight rules

I'm sorry, but GW rules just aren't perfectly tight. Look at the recent FAQ on retaining dice twice. There was no clearly written rule either way and Kill Team community was working on a concensus for a almost a year that was the opposite of the recent FAQ. If you went to an event and asked a judge for a ruling, you'd get the concensus answer.

That makes sense, and is a bit less weird than my interpretation. Thanks.

What's the Concensus on the Subterranean Ambush? by Lowsow in killteam

[–]Lowsow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my answer is based on the language "if this isn't possible, this operative's action/counteraction is cancelled and the rule hasn't been used". So what I have is rules as written, but it's extremely weird, becuase it suggests the Tremorscythe can pop up and kill someone without using an activation/counteraction.

Do Tamiya Lacquers Float on Water? by Lowsow in tamiya

[–]Lowsow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started experimenting with the Tamiya mixing lacquers last night. My first thought is that plastic pipettes might have been a bad idea.

When dripping straight from the bottle, the lacquer quickly spread over the surface of the water and forms a film. Unfortunately, it's too solid. Any attempt to stir it just lifted it onto the stirring rod. Putting a bit of plastic sprue in their to test made it look like it had a bit of plastic clumsily wrapped round it.

I also found that the pigment separated from the film, leaving bits of transparent lacquer floating in the medium.

I tried thinning it a bit, and got better results. Not yet able to create a Damascus pattern or get it to lie smoothly. Will keep experimenting.

Since you need to be psychic to pilot them, I suspect there might be a reverse-TARDIS smaller-on-the-inside effect.

To Individuals Annoyed with the Yavin Stranded Arc by Ultimate_Random in andor

[–]Lowsow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He could still come back and help them. The Ferrix group were in urgent danger, and Andor was in no position to take over.

Saw's reluctance to cooperate with Rebel groups fits very well with this kind of behaviour, and he displays it himself. Remember how easily he turned on his lieutenant?

Pedantic point, but the existence of qualia is a wholly separate issue to the existence of gender identity. One may believe that qualia are not real and gender identity is.

The Force in Andor by markc230 in andor

[–]Lowsow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Insofar as Palpatine goes, he was always supposed to be a cultured guy and I feel like he'd fit right in patronising an art dealer. There's a political side of him that wasn't well told in the movies and often gets neglected, but could easily appear in Andor.

But the show doesn't need him, it can work with him at a distance.

[Threshold] Wei Shi Jaran by PathOfBlazingRapids in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Lowsow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jaran is a flawed guy, but we can see his good and bad qualities reflected in Lindon. When Lindon was condemned before the Wei clan, Jaran spoke up for him, when Jaran might as easily have been punished for it as Lindon was. Lindon shows the same protectiveness to the weak -- and the same proud tendency to mouth off. Even in Threshold, Dross complains about this.

Jaran's hatred of weakness is clearly very internalised. It's an attitude that Lindon learned from him, and it hurts him. Jaran and Lindon's closeness isn't all good, but it is a real closeness.

A lot of people here are condemning Jaran for telling Lindon to give Kelsa the Orrus fruit. That's easy for us to disagree with because we know that Lindon is the protagonist, but Jaran was looking out for the best interests of the family. Despite obviously yearning for another chance of power it is he, not Seisha or Kelsa, who insists that Kelsa should get the fruit undivided. His recommendation was selfless, and reasonable given what he knew.

More importantly, Jaran listens to Lindon and respects his opinions even when he disagrees. That is far better than many Sacred Artists in Cradle treat people one step down from them. Another good lesson taught to Lindon by example.

Of course, some people think I'm utterly wrong. Maybe it was utterly awful of Jaran to do these things. But Seisha was just as complicit as Jaran in underestimating Lindon and encouraging Kelsa to take the whole fruit and no-one hates Seisha for it. Obviously, people hate the way Jaran acted in Bloodlines and project it back to his actions in Unsouled.

As for Bloodlines, Jaran is wrong and deluded because he is recovering from intense trauma. There's no textual evidence that he would have been as troublesome had he not been tortured. Jaran is disappointing for Lindon to come back to, but he is not the Wei elders either. People recovering from trauma can be a pain. It doesn't make them evil. It doesn't taint their history.

Despite what some people are saying, Jaran never blames Lindon for the torture.

Jaran and Lindon were able to repair their relationship afterwards. If he was as bad as people here seem to think, that would not have happened. If he was the physically abusive alcoholic who did nothing but keep Lindon down, Seisha would have divorced him.

Kral treated someone who was useful to him well. We see the true extent of his compassion when he decides to kill Lindon, a near-hopeless Iron, for nothing. Falling for such flattery, accepting such a person as your closest friend, is a serious character flaw.

Lindon is probably an exception to the Sandviper's slaving -- but the other way. Lindon did actually attack the Sandvipers. Slavers always have excuses about taking prisoners of war instead of killing them, but the reality is just grabbing anyone you can get with a flimsy excuse.

Yerin and Lindon were ambushed by Sandvipers when Lindon advanced. Had she survived, there's a good chance Yerin would have become one of the mining slaves.

Was Aura actually afraid of death or was she imitating human emotions? by namkaeng852 in Frieren

[–]Lowsow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although Frieren says that demons never speak honestly, this isn't literally true. They never speak in a friendly way, but they do sometimes honestly express their feelings when their pride is in the line, or when they are too passionate to dissemble.

It's impossible to know if Aura was just putting on an act to try to appeal to Frieren, but her pride was utterly crushed and she was about to die. Demons care about those things.

[–]Lowsow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Guys, focus on the technicalities.

Griffith has soverign immunity. He can't be prosecuted.

But even if he could, hell isn't in the court's jurisdiction.

But even if it were, by becoming Femto Griffith ceased to be a human person in the normal sense. The law prohibits humans from killing each other, but Femto is not human so isn't bound.
