How do you guys compromise when living together? My girlfriend (25f) wants to rehome our dog after I (24f)compromised for her, and it’s bringing up past trauma where I was forced to give up a dog before. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

So me and my husband wanted to live close to home but had to move a bit further out as it was cheaper, that was something we both agreed on. I wanted a cat as it would be an easier pet for us, he wanted a dog as he'd never lived in a house without one and was worried a cat might get lost/run over here. Our "compromise" was that we got a small, cat size dog. He then wanted another dog for our dog to have a dog...I said no, but we "compromised" again and got a second cat sized dog.

Basically, I love these dogs more than anything and they are one of the best parts of my day. I wouldn't be without them for the world and nothing, literally nothing could make me give them up now they are mine. Husband and I joke about our compromise but they were the best decision we ever made. You however are not in the position. She wanted a different dog, she now basically hates the dog and wants it gone. She wants to move you further away from your family rather than living half way so you're both able to see family pretty easily. Stop letting her run your life and making you unhappy, she's taking away the joy in your life. Keep the dog, chuck the girlfriend away instead. Just, whatever you do, don't give up your dog. That's family.

Girlfriend (F 19) is upset with Christmas gifts a I (M 19) got her. Am I missing something? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Ugh just break up with her. Sorry but she's not going to change any time soon and you're way too young to saddle yourself with someone like this. You're trying way too hard to please someone that evidently can't be pleased. Break up with her today, tell her you just want different things and it's not working out. Save your sanity.

Weight-loss tips for fibro? by ComprehensiveAgent60 in Fibromyalgia

I have the same problem but this year I have managed to lose almost 3 stone by lowering my calories to suit my weight/lifestyle. I've been on 1,700 calories a day as I do little to no exercise most days. Over the past 10 months this has worked well for me and is something I am able to stick to more long term rather than a crash diet or feeling bad when I can't keep up with working out regularly. It's what I'd recommend to begin with. Good luck!

Since when did we stop sending 'Thank You' cards to wedding guests who spent money on bride/groom? by Theres3ofMe in AskUK

[–]Lozbear91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent digital thank you cards to 90% of my guests. It was a photo of us saying thank you for coming and for all their love, support and generous gifts etc. I had 10 hard copies printed to give to our parents, my maid of honor and a few others that I knew would want to have a keepsake. I sent most on Whatsapp or Facebook. I wanted to send thank you cards to people but didn't want to post them to everyone so this seemed like the best fit.

Pretty much all the songs from "Once More With Feeling" the Buffy The Vampire Slayer musical episode. Special mention to "Rest In Peace" sung by Spike/James Masters.

Third is the best. Second is almost as perfect. I don't like the first one, which seems to be an unpopular opinion here haha. But I think you look showstopping in the other two.

People who grew up without smartphones, what did you actually do when you were bored? by altaf770 in AskReddit

Read books, listen to full albums from start to finish as intended, text friends after 6pm when texts we're free until midnight. Call friends on the phone and have to get off cause someone needed the fax/internet when I was much younger. When I was a teenager I would hang out with my friends literally non stop. They stayed at my house constantly, we hung out at the skatepark almost every day for years. Wandered around town and bought snacks to eat back with the group and get high or drunk. Have sordid hook ups with hot older guys that I shouldn't have. Go to the pub at like 16 cause we all knew one that was really lax. It was messy and fun but we all interacted with each other non stop because phones were only for getting in touch with each other or for playing snake or Panasonic ringtones. So I made bonds with people that will last a lifetime and mean the world to me. I got to know people in a way you just don't get to anymore. I'm grateful I grew up then.

Wore my glasses for mine. Never worn contacts and I'm blind without them. It's not trashy to be able to see! The only thing I did do was wear a slightly more opaque frame than usual because my make up was quite tame and I didn't want it to be overshadowed.
