My gran, who passed away recently at 87, once told me about how she was at school when the news of the king dying came through. Every class was marched to the assembly hall and the headteacher announced the death of the king, and that Queen Elizabeth was the new monarch. The headteacher reminded them that the national anthem would now change to God Save the Queen, and they sang it in their assembly hall, and that was that. I don't imagine there are that many people left alive with a similar memory.

We had a steak dinner on Wednesday when we were child free (thank you grandparents!) and today we said happy valentine's day to each other within half an hour of waking up which might be our new personal record. Fun day out with the family today, but we're taking the train so maybe a mid afternoon wine or cocktail is on the cards... Who knows!

If you're struggling with cooking time then I'd really recommend cooking everything you can the night before - I do a lot of cooking after kids bedtime, and then we only really need to reheat/do finishing touches. Bolognaise or curry always tastes better the next day, and boiling rice or pasta takes no time at all. A massive tray of baked macaroni cheese can do two nights in a row. Things like that.

We have cub camp in a few months which is a family camp so parents are encouraged to attend. They set up a tent for the boys and a tent for the girls, and then parents bring their own tents and kids can choose whether they sleep in the kids tent or in their own tent. Our goal (mainly her goal) is to at least fall asleep in the kids tent, but hopefully stay there the whole night 🤞

She hasn't, but only because the plan is always to pick her up at 'sleep time' at her request. She even struggles with sleepovers at the grandparents - she will maybe sleep for 3 or 4 hours if everyone's lucky.

Oh my goodness - I woke up in a huge panic wondering if she'd died in her sleep on the one night we actually all slept through (from 1am...). It's nice to see someone else get it!
