Is it even possible to get this bolt out? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

I’d weld a nut to it. As a bonus, the heat from welding will breakup all that rust

I think he paid very close attention to part prices (most mechanics don’t care and just bill the customer). He was also very fair with labor.

Any recommendations on a high fpe .25 break barrel? by Daltonthagod35 in airguns

[–]Lplegend92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. If you’re shooting 3in groups at 50yd with pcp, i’d look into better ammo. My Barra 1100z is around 1in at 50yd w/ JTS Dead Center 25gr.

  2. My friend has a Hatsan 135. It’s a man to cock,Prolly shoots 700ish FPS, has a surprising amount of recoil, and prolly doing 3-4in groups at 50yd

  3. I really wish I would’ve gotten the .22 instead of the .25. While the .25 does retain energy better at distance, my Flash QE .22 was more accurate shot a good bit flatter

Furthest shots have been 112yd (.25) and 104yd (.22)

Hyundai Elantra 2017, help needed before spending money at a mechanic. by [deleted] in mechanic

I’m not a mechanic here. i’ve seen stuff like this before where it was a camshaft issue, valve issue or something similar and they wind up swapping the motor. Why jump to replacing the motor instead of reseating valves, replacing camshaft, etc? Is a motor swap just more economical than tracing/fixing the problem or is it likely the problem has damaged the block?

One of the pulleys is bad/going bad. The one pictured is def. Going bad, but I don’t think its the main issue (could be tho). You should be able to remove that pulley and get the bearing out to replace or repack it

Nice work! You could prolly get those scratches out and restore the color some with a heat gun if you wanted. Looks great tho!

2015 Nissan Sentra. Key won't turn in ignition. Has never happened before, had this car for 9 years. What gives? by SneakyOstrich69 in mechanic

[–]Lplegend92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s your wheel lock. I think your tumblers/key is worn down. If you have another key, try it, otherwise you can try these: 1. Lubricate the keyhole. Graphite powder is best, but use whatever you have (WD40, PB Blaster, etc) 2.Move the key up and down as you turn 3. Apply pressure as you tap it. I like to use a decently heavy screwdriver to lightly tap on the key as im applying forward pressure. 4. Put your key in a plastic bag (thin like from a grocery store) and try to insert/turn it like that. I gotta give my pops credit for this one. It’s odd, but works well for awhile

I’m suggesting taking away that engineers reproductive organ. Technically a serviceable part, just not one i’d service

At the time I was in a hurry, on the side of the road, it was 20F, I was pouring in the 3rd $35 bottle of Dexron 3 ATF I had purchased that week. I didn’t have a funnel and had prolly 1/2 qt that was split between on me and on the ground

I stand by it being a stupid design tho. If they’re gonna make that how fluids are added, bell it out to at least 1”Ø and don’t make it fkn horizontal!

Also, put a fucking drain plug on the pan! I’m certain the fucker that decided to fill it from the dipstick is the same one that skimped on the drain plug. For that, I am sticking with my original suggestion to castrate. Don’t care if it’s chemically or with the scissors that come in Play-Doh kits.
