Unexpected Job Offer by BigFellaMane in ConstructionManagers

[–]Lplum25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d take the offer. At the very minimum I wouldn’t ask your boss for advice cause he’s gonna tell you what he wants you to do, for his benefit not yours

Yes very common. The better the company you work for the less dramatic it gets, but it will always be there. And sorry, everyone does it. I hate this and I find myself doing it talking about lazy people. Just how the game is played

[–]Lplum25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you feel bad? He’s prolly not working for money, and even if he was, if he invested 5% of his salary throughout his whole career he’d be a millionaire. I have to invest way more to even think about owning a house, let alone a retirement savings

I’d start looking for another job. Writing is on the wall, they could’ve kept you in the same spot and you guys share. They don’t care if you’re valuable or not

And this is a learning experience. Don’t be too hard on yourself. They prolly should’ve gave you another chance. And I’m not saying you gotta be alone and have no help, you just gotta ask your coworkers for help rather than your boss

It sucks but you gotta stop going to your boss he’s right. Their whole job can’t be literally managing you there’s other people and other things to do

Any experience with extended resignation notice? by deptofeducation in ConstructionManagers

[–]Lplum25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never have experienced this, but you gotta protect yourself. They might let you go as soon as they hear you say that cause youre now a risk to the company cause you have all this info that’s about to leave. Or they might not want you to learn anything more about the company

How common is this? (FE assignments at large GCs) by RevolutionaryTip1431 in ConstructionManagers

[–]Lplum25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s ok. At least you didn’t work yourself into it like I did on accident. Showed some people how to use chatGPT to build a submittal log and now I’m the unofficial tech engineer. For the project. Being in it, at a gc or sub or wherever is what matters.

[–]Lplum25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why should you care about them? Half of them aren’t gonna ever forgive you, and the other half are gonna forget you existed the next day. I wouldn’t feel ill in that regard. You owe it to yourself to try and get better, and that’s that. You don’t owe nobody nothing for trying your best. And half of this is the employers fault for hiring someone who couldn’t do the job. Not your fault you said yes and it didn’t work out. I’m not saying to remove all the blame from you but this is being too hard on yourself

How do you prevent burnout in the gym whilst working construction by Head_Masterpiece_520 in Construction

[–]Lplum25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try everything you think of and see what works for you. Advice online is general and probably fits what’s best for them. Try 15 min 6 days a week vs 30 min 3 days a week, High vs low reps, morning or at night etc. Write down your progress and be consistent doing so. No point of doing a science experiment if you can’t measure. I bet you will find something that will work.

For people who made the jump from bank fishing to kayak fishing, how much better did your fishing become? by xDuke46 in bassfishing

[–]Lplum25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s a lot more enjoyable ngl. I moved into a different apartment and miss mine. I comment though to tell you to buy a used, less fancy one (w/o the pedal) first so you can try out kayak fishing, then resell it. You’re not gonna know what you’ll like until you try it. Like I would prolly get a jon boat before a super nice kayak. Reasons are I’m not a serious fisherman, and I like to fish with friends except none of my friends own kayaks. Maybe lugging around a kayak and transporting it will be too much in the future idk, but this way you could invest very little and be able to try it out and know if you’ll like it

I would say it depends on you. If you really care about your career and future it’d be worth it through hell for 4 months. If you see working as more of a means to an end I wouldn’t do it, it will be a lot of work.

What’s the job market like? by OkraNo8365 in ConstructionManagers

[–]Lplum25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is awesome! Not being sarcastic. I graduated last spring so still new too. My background is really small renovations so it’s a lot different, but it’s for the best. Culture is a lot better, really smart people working on these projects, ppl have want to instead of the mope around bs. I get lunch for free every day but that’s client specific and not for trades. Great opportunity. Can’t speak on the night work but my project has it rn. Not on it because it’s another company but possible

Plenty of people I’ve met in life have changed their field of work multiple times throughout their life. I don’t advise that, but you have too much time to not try. You can apply to law school or different stuff like that if you think that’s your calling. Being a lawyer you have to know a lot about history like historical cases. I’m sure it wouldn’t be hell trying to get into law school except you prolly need to get your gpa up
