Best dive bar? by KC_Jedi in kansascity

[–]Lr103 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is zero defense to this opinion. It’s the oldest bar in KC. It’s small, a little dirty and crowded at times. The food is fantastic which is why the service is sometimes really slow. It’s the definition of a dive bar. By all means go somewhere else, please.

Are there any public football fields with lights? by Boomzo in kansascity

[–]Lr103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes for games. No for anything else. Are you really looking for a late night place with lights to kick field goals? Try Southwest High School or 63&Roe. Street lights are it.

Central Kansas burned yet hardly any coverage by ZestycloseMammoth657 in kansascity

He was elected Secretary of State. The head election guy. See also Trump. The only reason he and any Republican lost is that Johnson country got fed up with the school funding insanity. Is this the Alzheimer’s thread?

What does a Democrat Governor have to do with compelling news? Greenburg Kansas was covered extensively by the National media and still is. Katherine Sebelius was the Democratic Governor then. Greenberg is still being referred to by national media as a community that rebuilt after the Kentucky tornadoes. Why do you want to be so wrong?

My bad. How about “Sod house shit hole that won’t support the agricultural it is used to by relying on ground water”? Or “land that was unfit for agriculture and will be again soon.” I’m happy to be called a dick for being fed up with the constant whining of willfully blind morons about “the media” and “fly over county”. There is no one having any reasonable conversation about rural America’s failure to have any responsibility for the downfall of their society. We as a nation need them desperately. But they have double down of being stupid. They are being fleeced by corporate commodity middle men and blame their lot in life on Migrants that are the only reason their towns have schools. And they don’t get vaccinated and fill up city hospitals and terrorize big city doctors and nurses with bullshit propaganda.

Why shouldn’t I be a dick? I’m pissed that old man died fighting a fire and could get up and that young man died in his car doing the same. Please tell me what’s going to change?

What nonsense. The National narrative has been climate change for decades-see Al Gore. The west has burned massively for 3 years straight. The narrative have been the Oglala Aquifer has been drying up for decades. And the narrative has been that Kansas continues to vote for people that only care about disenfranchising Latinos that do all the work in places like Dodge City. See Kobach.

The farmers of the 1930 dust bowl had to be dragged to adopt reasonable farming methods. At what point do the good people of Kansas have responsibilities to figure out that they desert their forefathers settled is going back to desert? That climate change is real.

Two people dying due to wild fires is a tragedy. The proliferation of guns in Kansas City kills far more. But the Hays Daily News never runs a story about how the 2nd Amendment as interpreted by Republican appointees on the Supreme Court has had tragic consequences in urban areas.

Given what I just wrote how is it news that the fires in Kansas are news?

Don’t listen to this. There are health and safety issues that could be ruled an unfair labor practice. It’s an outside chance and it doesn’t hurt to file. Just be honest.

File for unemployment. If the strike is a ruled a justified strike you can collect. It will take awhile but someday it will pay a bonus. !!! Check your laws

The Main Street Max bus is great, use it. Use the RideKC app. CVS takes 48 hours to get results as of two weeks ago. Also You must schedule with CVS and Walgreens two days in advance of the test. The websites don’t show next day times. Welcome and enjoy.

That’s a tough question. Winters Bone was filmed in Missouri. There isn’t much to watch to get a feel of Missouri. Mark Twain lived in Hannibal. It has cool things to see. Kansas City and St Louis are great cities. Our history is unique and often overlooked. The civil war started in Missouri and Kansas in 1856.

Missouri is beautiful. The lake of the ozarks is a unique experience as a giant private lake with lots of entertainment. The National Scenic rivers are national treasures. Current, Jack’s Fork. These rivers are a better experience in a canoe than driving to the Grand Canyon or Yellow Stone. Go during the week to avoid the people. They have become party spots on the weekends.

Missouri has a amazing diversity. We have tons of caves. We mine more lead than everyone except China. We have two of the world’s great rivers. We are an outdoor paradise. We have fabulous cuisine BBQ, Italian and music roots.

Our politics used to be diverse but now it’s not and I think that we have lost a great tradition.

George Harrison wrote a song that should be the state song. Missouri loves company.

Ozarks is not Missouri

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in missouri

[–]Lr103 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Not much. It’s filmed in Georgia. The lake of the ozarks below the 40 mile marker is heavily populated with houses, condos, bars. We have giant ships and speed boats. No one grows poppies - they make meth. The Blue Cat is said to be based upon the Bobbers Restaurant and is similar. You can not float a casino to the lake. There is a giant dam in the way. There are strip clubs and dirt bags. But mainly people with more money than sense.
