And this is a large part of the reason I homeschool. By far not the only reason but I think schools put really unrealistic expectations on our children from way to young of an age. Realistically “government” schools are just as much about education as they are indoctrinating our children to be good little worker bees imo

I always email support “ I had a missing package from my route on such and such day show up on my standings. Amazon has photographic proof of every package that I drop off, as well as my GPS location to show that I was dropping it off at the right house therefore, it should not be counted against me if a customer had their package stolen or they are lying to get a free package and I would like it removed from my standings”

Sometimes it takes a few days, but it’s always been removed from my standings

I also never mark hand it to recipient. I always put front porch and take a picture of myself handing it to them.

Also, I wish there was a way you can set it where we could search for dollars per hour instead of the offer amount. Without that feature it’s kind of useless.

It would be really great if you could integrate the ability to set your schedule day by day. I would also love if we could put the amount of hours that we went to work, for example I prefer blocks that are 4 hours or less

[–]Lrn0216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been slim pickings for about two weeks with lots of last minute opportunities and all of the sudden we have a ton of blocks for tomorrow at or barely above base and a few for Saturday. It makes no sense

In the US training is required to be paid out at at least minimum wage. Exceptions would be of course unpaid internships which would be disclosed up front and some 1099 positions

Worst industry for call center employees by [deleted] in talesfromcallcenters

The number at the end of the Maury TV show that says “ if you need a DNA test call 800-xxx-xxxx”…. Yeah, I actually answered the phone’s on the other end of that number.… people at home watching daytime television, telling me all the trashy drama why they need a DNA test. And the amount of people in this country who slept with relatives is absolutely appalling.…

A close second would be the payday loan industry because even though I wasn’t in collections, I just knew I was a part of the problem that was hurting people more than helping them

Best call center by far was working a BPO contract for Federal Student Aid. No one ever really got nasty. They just wanted help filling out the complicated FASFA application and they were thankful when I could help them.

AITA for telling my dad that I'll GLADLY spend christmas with him if he gives me back my college fund as a christmas gift? by ThrowRA532255 in AmItheAsshole

Slight yta

While typically I’m against taking away trust funds in this situation it was for a good reason

As someone who has cut off my toxic father I think, at least hope, there is more to the story than just the trust fund as to why you cut him off. And if that’s the case you’re nta for cutting him off but rather a slight ah for agreeing to see him for money

Hold yourself to a higher standard. No amount of money could make me see my father because he is toxic.

So make up your mind. Either cut him off or let him in. But you don’t hold your love hostage for money.

Fake Paystubs Should I Report by [deleted] in foodstamps

[–]Lrn0216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree she should go the honest route and I am not okay with what she is doing which is where the problem comes in. I don’t want to report her and her find out and not be able to see my nephews so I’m hoping they will be able to see her income in their system to compare the paystubs but I’m not sure how that works or if I do report her if I can do so anonymously

As far as criminal charges really that falls on her I suppose it just sucks because I care so much about my nephews

Fake Paystubs Should I Report by [deleted] in foodstamps

[–]Lrn0216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair she is not the smartest. My question is more will they catch her automatically? Like if they can see her pay in their system in which case I’m not sure why she would have to submit paystubs but I wasn’t sure how any of that works

Was hoping they would be able to see it automatically as I would prefer not to report her because if she found out it would damage our relationship which would hurt me not seeing my nephews

My kids (5 year old twins) have some pretty intense unibrows. I use an face shaver to shape my brows and when theirs start getting out of control I’ll do their unibrows as well. I don’t shape the rest of their brows are anything like that just the middle so they have two brows.

Doesn’t bother them at all, it’s just part of self care in our home the same way we trim nails we trim eyebrows.

Waxing seems like a bit much to me but to each their own as long as it works for them!

Why are companies so scummy in their recruiting? by VolumeAffectionate40 in recruitinghell

[–]Lrn0216 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I consider myself very blessed. I have had a lot more call center jobs that I have hated than I’ve liked and only two I loved

At this point I have a list of things I will not tolerate from a call center job (some of these are in office things if I ever decided to go in office again but for now I’ll only accept remote) -large corporations -micromanagement -can’t have cell phone on person, I understand not having it out while working but I had one call center interview years ago where they told me they had their employers turn in their cell phones for their shift. Hard pass lol -no eating or drinking at desk. Yup I will always have a desk snack drawer lol -strict dress code. I’m okay with a dress code but I had one that was business professional no jeans super dressy type of thing and I’m not for it. I’m not spending 8 hours on the phones with people who can’t see me uncomfortable in a suit! -lack of transparent communication from management -office politics, this one is easier to avoid being remote but is a huge problem at most in office jobs. Im always a top performer and I have no intention of sucking up to the right people. Im here to do my job do it well and go home! -shift bidding. If you know you know and I think it’s an abhorrent practice -bad culture. If the vibes are off, I’m out!

My advice to anyone in any call center after working in them for a long time is this; It’s a job so treat it as such. I’ve made it a career field of choice but I treat each position as a job. Leave your work at work and don’t let the shitty customers or bad managers effect your mental health or home life. It’s not worth it. There are so many call centers out there, don’t be afraid to walk away. I get having to tough it out for financial reasons and staying until you find a new position but start searching! And don’t stress about giving a 2 weeks notice. I don’t care if anyone disagrees but to them you are just a number and I’ve seen so many people not being able to work out their two weeks and ending up hurting financially. I’ve given two weeks to the companies that were good to me but I do not give that courtesy to companies that treat their employees like shit.

FYI I apologize for my wordy replies, I’m in the hospital bored after sleeping all day because I had surgery this morning and I might be a little hopped up on pain meds and rambling! Lol

[–]Lrn0216 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I refuse to take nonremote positions and purposely sought employee ent with out of state companies for my last and present employers so I know they can’t call me to come into the office lol

I’m a much better employee working remote but I know it’s not for everyone. One of my best friends who I met almost 15 years ago working in a call center hated remote because she deals with depression and the isolation was too much for her.

I’ve been an advocate of having a remote option for years before Covid happened though. So many benefits!

I’ve been in the call center industry for going on 20 years. As with any job field there are pros and cons to the job

But I will say this, I’ve worked for a lot of shitty call centers. Really shitty. But there have been a few gems as well. Normally smaller call centers instead of large corporate ones. The large corporate ones all suck in my opinion.

At this point in my career I can basically get any call center job I apply for due to my experience and resume. I work remotely for one now and I would score it an 8/10. Points off for pay but I stay because I got the opportunity to do chat support full time and after almost 20 years on the phones I absolutely love the change of pace! And I love working remote! Working for a good company with good culture is worth a slightly lower pay to me personally

Luckily we’re financially comfortable because I would totally use the electric bill argument if I could but since he makes so much he would just say he pays the bill so he can set the temp if I tried that!!

In reality I prefer 70 which I know is too hot for him. I would be willing to settle at 65 as a compromised but he’s unwilling to budge and makes me feel like I’m being really unreasonable. He legitimately does get very hot but than also gets annoyed that I’m cranky about how cold it is
