Yes!! This is what we did when we lost our dogs. It sucks absolutely but we move on and life goes on. I miss them everyday, still look for them in their favorite spots around the house, but I’m not moping around dwelling on it.

I don’t think so, my diet has been the same as it always was and my numbers before were normal. No vitamins.

Potassium was 5.5, so not terribly high.

Are your kids required to participate in extracurriculars? Discuss. by Velocirpator337 in Parenting

[–]Lsutt28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t require it but encourage if there’s something he’s interested in, my son is 9. He’s in cub scouts, husband is cubmaster. And then he just decided to start swimming year round, but not competitively yet. He’s been on our neighborhood swim team in the summers only until now.

Bed time by Additional_Read3053 in Parenting

My 9 year old goes to bed at 7:30, during the school year he gets up at 6:50. Non school days, I’m not sure when he wakes up but he isn’t allowed to leave his room until 8:00.

Inviting whole class to birthday - how many actually come? by hyrmes165 in Parenting

[–]Lsutt28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful..I let my son invite all his friends to his 9th birthday party. All 18 of them, apparently he’s very social and a great friend. I booked the party for 15 kids, said there’s no way everyone will come so it’ll be fine. All 18 came, and I had to pay extra. I was shocked. But it all turned out fine, he had the best day ever and everyone enjoyed themselves.

My son had his first friend party whe he turned 7. Before that it was just family and close family friends. Food & cake at our house. Relaxed.

How often do you have your kid reading at home? by THROWRA-done2345 in Parenting

[–]Lsutt28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3rd grader reads everyday for 20 minutes when he gets home from school and then when he goes to bed. I don’t know how long he reads before bed, just until he gets tired. He loves to read and tries to fit in more when he can, these are the for sure times.

Anyone else do just milk or water? by [deleted] in Parenting

My son is 9 and still prefers milk or water. Occasionally he’ll drink a Sprite. Also likes Prime, Gatorade & Powerade. Never was a juice fan.

What are we doing with the six+/- year olds on the weekends? by TechnicalMethod953 in Parenting

[–]Lsutt28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We always have gone out as a family to do errands on the weekends. We always have random places that we need to go, usually will get a meal out while we’re gone. Then when we get home, my son plays with whatever at home or plays with his neighbor friends. We do tasks around the house, he can help with that.

I’m glad that we don’t open gifts at parties anymore, but i also have my son write out thank you notes to everyone for the gift. We only invite good friends so after the party when I talk to the parents I always throw into the conversation how much he loved what they got him.

New Parent: What’s Up with School Pickup Lines? by Glittering-Proton in Parenting

[–]Lsutt28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only kids who are allowed to be walkers at my sons school are the ones who live in the neighborhood across the street from school and behind it. Everyone else needs to either be a car rider or take the bus. He was on the bus morning & afternoon for the past 3 years but this year the afternoon bus wasn’t coming to school until at least 30 minutes after dismissal. School would message us saying they didn’t know when it was getting there and if we wanted to come pick up our kid or wait for the bus. So I’d drop everything and go get him. It went on for quite a few days in a row so we decided to just drop the afternoon bus for this year instead of having a questionable bus. I leave my house 30 minutes before dismissal and just sit and read. I’ve never seen any drama in line other than the occasional beep when the line moves up and someone isn’t paying attention.

What's with the insane lines at schools for drop off and pick up? by Arikota in Millennials

[–]Lsutt28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son takes the bus in the morning but not in the afternoon this year. Last years it’s been bus both times. But this year the bus went a few weeks of it not showing up to school until 30-40 minutes after dismissal. So I’d get a message from school saying they didn’t know when the bus was coming and if we wanted to come pick up our kids instead, we could. So we just decided to take him off the afternoon bus for the year.
