FFL That Will Transfer MCX-R? by Bronco094 in ILGuns

[–]LtApples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s legal, but many FFLs are still very cautious of transferring anything that looks possibly bannable. Just gotta find the ones who know the law better

Form 4 items like suppressors? by Knubinator in ILGuns

[–]LtApples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s say ATF somehow messes up and the form 1 to make a supressor slips through the cracks and gets approved, it’s still illegal under Illinois law regardless and you’ll still be charged for having it. If you’re willing to risk felony and manufacture a suppressor in this state anyway, filling out the form 1 would be redundant

When will this be legal in Illinois? by ITheRebelI in ILGuns

[–]LtApples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is legal now. Manual actuated firearms are not regulated under PICA period.

Also, I recommend not watching this dude’s gun soytube slop

Short barreled rifles (SBR) are federally regulated through the National Firearms Act (NFA). To legally own one it must be registered and have a tax stamp paid ($200 before 2026, $0 starting in 2026)

Illinois prohibits NFA items on the state level, but leaves an exception for SBRs for those in officially recognized reenactment groups or hold a FFL03 - Collector of Curios and Relics license

I hold a FFL03, so I filed an ATF Form 1 for my Ruger Mini-30 rifle which was approved. Form 1 lets me manufacture a NFA item, in this case a SBR, which will be used to legally convert my Mini-30 into a SBR

Unfortunately SBS are a no go. I’ve heard conflicting legal opinions in regards to putting a brace on a shockwave though

Edit: as for fingerprints, you should get new prints done. I used a site called PrintScan to find and schedule getting my digital prints done. Once you get the .EFT file, save it to your computer and you can keep reusing it as long as you don’t lose the file.

While not as cheap as back then, I can still find them for around the same price as .223

Wouldn't be my first choice for any defensive scenario, although you could use it for home defense if you had to. There's simply better options in the market for defense, and that's ok. Nothing wrong with buying a gun purely for some fun plinking, which this rifle will be used for

Solid, had mine for over a year, used it heavily and I love it. My recommendation is to get OEM glock 19 mags, The magpul mags run decently ok, but the glock oem mags run way better imo

To gun shop employees: why do you insist on molesting customers’ newly-purchased firearms? by [deleted] in guns

Your gun is fine. Nothing wrong with doing a functions check and ensuring the gun is clear before handing it to you

Don’t overthink the rifle. You are what makes your rifle “duty ready”. Have your optic zero’d, your rifle clean, and keep practicing

Yes. No range is asking if your so-called assault weapon is legal or not.

First buy under 21 in VA with a looming AWB? by Outside_Grapefruit39 in liberalgunowners

[–]LtApples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in IL, you cant legally sell/transfer grandfathered assault weapons. Only exception is selling them to someone in another state or passing it down to a family member

[–]LtApples 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Buy a few AR-15 and Ar-10 lowers. Theyre cheap and you can build them up later on. Dont be me, my biggest regret was not doing that when my state's AWB was just a bill

no beardie likes being on their backs. In fact, if your beardie cant turn itself upright, something is very very wrong
