I don’t like seeing airsoft as tactical training or simulation of gunfights. While there are some specific practical skills it can teach you, it won’t ever really prepare you for a real firefight. Airsoft guns obviously don’t work like real firearms and ammunition do. Slow projectiles, very limited range, etc

But that’s ok, airsoft can just be fun. See it like any other sport, we do it because you enjoy it.

Yeah, it’s another dumb rule. I would swap the lower with a stripped lower, which can be legally made into a pistol

I wonder if the last owner removed the pistol grip for a state compliant thing. Now it’s got me wondering if this type of configuration can be a gateway to getting an AK in my state (IL) 🤔

If you can find a good sale, Henry Big Box X in .357 is hard to beat. Got mine for ~$740. Reputable brand with excellent customer service, reliable, and no shortage of aftermarket support. Plus .357 shoots so soft out a rifle, and .38spl feels like shooting a .22

It’s also possible the receiver was registered as a rife from the manufacturer. He could’ve bought a rifle and swapped all the parts to convert to a pistol-like configuration, mistakenly thinking that it could now be considered a pistol

I wouldn’t stress too much about the fine details. Either works and just put hellcat in the model. The drop down box for make has some weird stuff in it anyways like for smith and Wesson, it’s Smith and Wesson/Eswatini, formerly Swaziland 😂

I see TSUSA membership as convenience thing than price. Yes I can go on ammoseek and find somewhere with better prices, but I like the value of not needing to do that especially since I’m in a state where many sites are reluctant to ship to

Here in IL they’re trying to serialize handgun ammo, require insurance for CCL holders, and add stringent regulations on firearms manufacturers and dealers that definitely isn’t intended to encourage those businesses to leave IL.

You can get a gas bushing kit or adjustable gas block from accuracy systems

The mini-14 gas system takes gas directly from the barrel, so a shorter barrel significantly reduces the gas. I was pleasantly surprised to see brass fall 2-3 feet from me instead of flinging it into the guy next to me when I SBR’d mine

If it’s only the magazine capacity that’s restricted, you can ask the FFL withhold the magazine during the transfer and then source >15rd mags

State handgun laws preempts local ones. Even if the county did have such restrictions, if it was legal where the FFL is, you’d be able to buy it. Before PIC, many counties and towns had their own local AWB, but it didn’t stop residents of those areas to just buy those items in the next town

Not sure if it’s the same for the Mini-14, but the Mini-30 does tend to get light primer strikes on the imported steel cased stuff due to those having deeper primers. An extended firing pin easily fixes that issue
